Why would Warriors need to inactive a body because Green is suspended?

If they have 13 guys and Green is one of them, then they have 13 guys and Green is one of them.

        I'm confused.
Isn't it 12 man roster for the playoffs?

        Curry
        Thompson
        Barnes
        Green
        Bogut
        Livingston
        Iggy
        Rush
        Anderson
        Mo
        Eke
        McAdoo
        Clark
        Leonardo

When a player is suspend he had to stay on the active list. So they have to lost one player from the above (expect green obviously). Or they won't have the minimum roster to start the game.

This was off the top of my head.

        Yup I was right.
        The NBA Playoffs
Each team that qualifies for the NBA Playoffs must submit a list of its players eligible to compete in playoff games on the day following the end of the regular season.
Because there is no Injured List for the NBA Playoffs, each playoff team must designate the 12 players eligible for the playoffs from all of its regular season lists (Active, Injured and Suspended).
A player who is on the Injured, Active or Suspended List at the end of the regular season, but who is not designated for playoff eligibility, need not be waived. He remains on the appropriate regular season list through the NBA Playoffs.
Teams must have at least nine eligible players dressed and able to play in a playoff game. Teams failing to comply are subject to fines.

Plays like that are rarely called, considering he clearly went for a steal.

There is no way to rule intent out of Dray's play. It wasn't a play on the ball, LeBron didn't even have the ball. It was deliberate.
So does that mean anytime you swipe at the ball and miss and hit someone in the groin, that constitutes a common foul?

If Varejao decides to swipe hard at the ball when James drives the paint (and the Cavaliers are down 30 points in game 5) with 8 minutes left in the game, and Varejao hits James in the groins and James finally goes down and can no longer continue to play, it would still be consider a common foul because Varejao was going for the ball? The intent was swiping at the ball, and it was a basketball move, and accidentally hit James in the groin.

I don't think you're going to find a black-and-white ruling on this type of issue like it appears you may be pursuing.

The league tends to look at all questionable plays through their own unique lens and all reach-in fouls in which contact is made with the groin are not created equal. The league looks for plays that are outside the realm of typical basketball, keeping in mind that typical basketball does oftentimes include accidental hits to the face, groin, eye, etc.

But to answer your question more succinctly, yeah, if Anderson Varejao clearly intended to reach for the ball when guarding LeBron James and accidentally tagged him in the groin, it typically would not be grounds for a flagrant.

We can all create intent and perceived excess in our own minds after watching clips over and over again, just like if we watch the clip below enough we could convince ourselves the ballhandler's lone goal was to take James out, but that doesn't always justify handing out flagrants anytime someone's tagged in the groin.

LeBron about to get 2010-11 season return to Cleveland boos tomorrow night. Perfect time for him to revert to the villain and relish it.

Drive-by comment since I'm not really understanding this discussion you guys are having, but the active roster limit is up to 13 these days (changed a few years ago). I think that link you've got there is from the early 2000s.

Both teams had to make a case for the punishment.

CAvs lobbied for Flagrant, Warriors for technical foul.

LeBron and Dray wouldn't even have had that encounter if the refs had called the game a little tighter. That anger just built and built.

So the next game, they're going to call everything, especially after the "flagrant" action of the previous game.

That plus Lebron whined about not getting calls.

So they have Scott Forster officiating.
