    Re: 2017 Offseason Thread

There are just so many interesting aspects to this trade. Does LeBron stay or go? Does this trade make him more or less likely to stay? How does IT fit in Cleveland and is his hip going to be an issue? What happens with the Brooklyn pick? Does Cleveland eventually make another trade with or because of the new assets? How does Kyrie fit in Boston? Does Kyrie resign?

I think it will be sometime before we can decide who truly won this trade. For the Celtics and Danny Ainge specifically, this off-season will be judged and grades for years to come. It could go down as one of the best off-seasons ever or one of the worst.

I'm not one for the conspiracy stuff.. but that sounds an awful lot like Chris Paul headed to the Nets with LeBron and then Melo swapping New York squads. Wade might end up there as well. They'll make a great run for the 2010 championship lol.

To me the interesting factor is how Thomas fits Cleveland. If he can read those situations coming off the pick and roll that Kyrie struggled with it could be a nice upgrade. Especially when LeBron sits. It became Kyrie iso kingdom last year and was no wonder why their numbers were so horrible in situations with LeBron on the bench. That might have not been 100% Kyrie's fault given that Lue isn't exactly a genius offensive game planner, but he was still much at fault. If he and Love can get a nice two man game going and they can even just keep from going negative when LeBron sits that gives them much needed improvement. IMO. Though they'll miss those situations where Kyrie gets hot and just takes over scoring wise the way almost nobody else can.

For Boston I think it's already a win. I think Kyrie is a better player with a similar role that Thomas had. To me that's an upgrade. Not just for now, but his youth with Haywards youth and their young pieces coming up it's better for them moving forward as well. Crowder needed to be gone last year for Brown to start, and even more so now with Tatum in the fold. I think they made a good move. Even if Kyrie leaves that puts them in a better position than a big contract to Thomas who will be headed to the backside of his prime in a couple years.

Blake said LeBron wasn't coming to LA but "something is brewing" with LeBron going to New York. Everyone assumed the Knicks.. but now this dude says he's headed to the Nets.. Blake's source is obviously Chris Paul. All headed to the Nets. Blake's ahead of the game on this one lol.

But who thinks LeBron wants to stick around playing with some rookie when he didn't even want to play with Wiggins?

LeBron wants as much veteran/established "help" as possible. He's always been that way.

He's not sticking through a rebuild.

Come on now y'all. I wasn't saying LeBron is going to be enticed by a rookie or a rebuild now. I was saying that with this move if he stays after this and they don't make any other deals during the season he'll be doing so because he's on board with one of those two directions. Bron ain't staying in Cleveland just because. If he stays it's because he likes what they have lined up

Yea Danny Ainge made this a major point of his conference call, he brought it up 8 times with the last count I saw.

And I kinda agree with Pack on this one. The Nets aren't going to be one of the worst 3 teams in the league, so I see this pick being no higher than 6 or 7. I honestly think the Nets surprise this year and finish closer to the 10th worst record than the worst record in the league (talking place in lottery not games back).

Then they're still better off than when the last time LeBron left; they'll have a likely top 5 pick and several assets they can trade.

                                Wow!!!

I think that's a good deal for both teams.

For Boston they get their young superstar to build around. He will do Kobe level things now.

For Cavs they get a guy who has basically the same level of impact on both offense and defense in IT. If LeBron stays they can sign IT too, if not they can both walk, so there's flexibility there. Crowder is a solid win-now wing for LeBron. Zizic is nothing special but could top out as a Gortat level guy.

The swing piece is the pick, which should be top 10. Brooklyn have a decent chemistry going on so i don't think top 3 is as guaranteed as ppl think. That said, if it is top 3 then Cavs have done well.

This is honestly a good deal for everyone involved.

Excited to see what kyrie can do in Boston
