Even if they're "pretty confident" what does their bench look like? Unless they split the MLE, looks like a bunch of vet minimums or am I tripping?

Depends, if they get Kawhi it's like you said.. Mostly vet mins and they still need a point guard. All they would have is the cap-room MLE which is like 5 mil-ish.

If they don't get Kawhi my best guess would be they re-sign KCP, Rondo, JaVale.. That keeps them over the cap in which case they would have the full MLE and the bi-annual MLE to use, and then of course min deals after that. Think it would have to be another 1 year high dollar deal for KCP though, and he's been rumored to want a longer deal.

Edit: And I don't think it's crazy to think the second team would be better.. Though AD/Kawhi/Bron would be one of the best trios ever on paper...

Dallas still has 23.3M in usable space, plus the Room Exception after that at 4.8M, so it still makes sense for them to go the cap space route. Plus, using the NTMLE on Curry would hard-cap them, which would make things difficult in re-signing KP/DFS/Kleber and using that TPE.

Yeah, I think this gives Miami 7 Mill in relief. Plus Mo, Leonard, Dragic and Ryan Anderson all come off the books next year. Interesting.

With getting in on the Miami/Philly sign and trade now off the table, it's looking more and more like Boston may not have a third team for the Kemba/Rozier S&T. So they won't be operating as an over the cap team and that means the Room Exception instead of the MLE.

It also means Charlotte may have to send Boston something because they can't sign Rozier outright and there was no benefit for Boston doing the S&T unless they get something back.

Even though I am hard on our front office the best thing Atlanta has done this offseason is not too hand out any long-term bad contracts. The FA market has just about dried up already and we still sit with 14 million in cap space which is what I want to see. It stinks that next years class is bad, however I will still take the 80 million in cap space going into the summer. I was wanting Favors however as long as we don't spend the last $ we have on a longterm deal I'll take it.

Yeah, I like what Atlanta has done. I loved the draft. I went to 8 or 9 games last season and they're a fun to watch. Plus now my son is really getting into basketball and we have a decent team with upside. The Hawks are "our thing". I'm excited to see how much more Trae Young develops. He started out last season rough but he turned a corner and it was great. In addition to having a solid home team to root for, the league as a whole is going nuts. I'm ready for next season already.

I’m just glad first round draft picks weren’t traded for Andrea Bargnani equivalents, which is what happened not too long ago.

Compared to across the team across the East River, not as flashy as a team the Knicks are putting together, but they’re strategically building a team.

Just now getting out of the mess that Phil Jackson but the franchise in.

I can also say that if it was the Knicks that did land KD, the media would be saying it’s a short-sighted, high risk move.

This team could sneak into the 8th seed.

The main thing y’all need to do is no longer rely on selling the allure of The Garden. Or at the least, people stop eating that up like it matters because it doesn’t.

It all starts from up top.

And I hope the Clippers can get Kawhi just so they shed the stigma of “No one wants to willingly go to the Clippers”. If we can shed that, then they should as well.
