Can't trade 1st rounders in consecutive years I believe.

The pick swap is what really screwed the Nets in that Boston trade.

All things gotta break right for the Lakers.

This seems to be the deal:

      No. 4 pick in 2019
Top-8 protected in 2021, becomes unprotected in ‘22
      Unprotected swap in ‘23
      Unprotected first in ‘24
      Unprotected swap in ‘25

So yes of course, depth matters...most of the time.

Depth is much less important when you have three max level guys. Especially when you are talking about fielding two of the top five players in the entire league.
How many of those teams survived having one of their top guys out for a significant amount of time? If AD wasn't injury prone, this wouldn't even be part of the discussion.

LeBron turns 35 in December. Depending how long he plans on playing, this could be crippling down the line.

              David Griffin is that dude.

Cleveland should have never let him go.

New Orleans hasn't been playing this offseason. Obviously, winning the lottery is the biggie but the Griffin hire is huge, as well.

Even without the draft or the AD trade the Pel's are really winning the offseason. Getting rid of Mickey Loomis (who is also the VP of the Saints) and hiring Griffin... then Griffin hiring longtime Phoenix trainer Aaron Nelson and Tragdon Langdon as GM... those or two really good hires. Then he hired Swin Cash last week and everything I've read about her seems really positive. Gayle taking over is pretty much the best thing that could have happened. I mean, Pelicans will likely always play second banana to the Saints but Griffin is going to close that gap with everything he has been doing.

It's crazy the Pels have 4 Duke players lol. Will draft Zion and then could draft RJ or Cam with number 4 lol

So just saw the news about AD going to the lakers now I am a few hours behind but work and such. Yes lakers are now at least going to be a playoff team next year. Still a lot of offseason left for lakers to make more moves but so nice that has a lakers fan I will not have to deal with other year of not making the playoffs next year and so glade lakers were able to keep one of there young guys. Going to be interesting to see what else the lakers do hoping they get Kemba walker.

I was joking and saying just sit Curry and tank lol. But yeah GS may have a hard time even making the playoffs now. They dont have much out side of curry and cap is going to make things hard. May just want to bring cousins back and hope he can find is old like 20 and 10 self.

I have a feeling this AD acquisition is going to kill the Lakers for years. The Pels basically run their draft for the next SEVEN YEARS. You better hope LeBron and Co. can make deep runs in the playoffs/win a chip or this is all for naught.

By far his best coaching staff, AD the best teammate he's had when you factor in Wade wasn't a threat off ball and could only really defend one position, and he was about 80% of himself after the 2nd year. Assuming it all clicks obviously and they don't have guys starting for them like Rio, Joel Anthony, Tristan Thompson, JR Smith, and actually have players with some versatility...

That said LeBron is older, slower, coming off an injury, apparently isn't getting better at free-throws, and his first year with a completely new team always looks a little down in comparison to his other years.. All that has to be factored in. Do you get "LeBron" LeBron next year.

But if he looks like he did the past couple of years, AD is healthy, they don't completely blow these free agents signings, and the players mesh with each other and the coaches... Should be legit.
Not having to play a extra like 20 games or so and like a extra 2 months of rest or so by not making the playoffs this last season I think is going to really help him going forward to.
