Either Lakers didn't think it through or were just desperate to get this done before FA hit. No way Pelicans let them wait until August.

I hope Kemba stays, but I won’t be mad if he leaves. He deserves the chance to chase a ring if he wants to. Sure isn’t going to happen here anytime soon.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
While I prefer Lakers to spend cap on depth rather than form a big 3, starting PG FA options are limited. There are backup PGs but as far as starters it is limited. Outside of Kyrie and Kemba, there 3 options from the FA list. Collison, Beverly, Bledsoe. I don't see Bledsoe returning to Bucks mainly because of all the other pressing needs they have. He is youngest of bunch. But worst shooter of bunch. I still prefer Bev. He will give you the least amount of points, but he will play his role. He is a scrappy versatile defender who has shot at least 38% 3pt last 4 seasons. I don't think he will return to Clippers but not sure if he wants to go to Lakers.
Main reason I think they should go depth over star is that I feel there will be load management with Bron and I doubt AD is playing 80+ games. There weren't issues with Raptors with Kawhi not playing 22 games because their team was talented and deep enough to win games without him. So Lakers should try to get a balanced roster instead of a top heavy. When you don't have depth, your stars has to play more minutes and at least one has to be on floor at all times.
I think Beverly might improve the Lakers more than a guy like Kemba would tbh. Lebron and Davis is enough as far as star power goes. The 3rd option will be marginalized at least a bit. Bev’s defense at the point and spot up shooting ability would be big for them imo. I’d much rather sign him and one or two other solid players than blowing their load on another borderline star.

Bev helps the team more than Kemba does. Sure the potential firepower of Kemba, Bron, Kuz, Davis, and a potential spot up SG is enticing. But one of the big 3's game will take a big hit. Thats why I would want Bev. He's not going to average 10+ PG in with Lakers, but he could give them spacing and defenses has to respect his long range. Plus I definitely think Kuz can be the ideal 3rd option after Bron and AD. If they are going to keep them, they should maximize his talents. Adding a Kemba or Kyrie will pretty much relegate him to spot up shooter only when with starters.
Plus I don't think Bron will get heavy minutes in regular season. You'll see a lot of load managment or sub-36 minute games for him. So having depth is important.Comment

At his age and that contract, I don't know who is going to want to even consider trading for him. That is superstar money. I don't think there is a team that is a Chris Paul away from a championship.Comment

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

New Balance advertising some Kawhi announcement tomorrow.
One can only dream to see him get up at the podium tomorrow and be like "I'm Staying!", mic drop and that's it lol.
Then again, Woj decided in the middle of a trophy presentation to drop a woj bomb that Wizards could make big offer to Masai, so who's to say some reporter doesn't just be like "____ could land Kawhi" in middle of a parade.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
I still wonder what the whole “MEGA SUPER TEAM” thing means.
Everyone has known for awhile that the Lakers can get close to another max guy, and regardless of who that is that limits them substantially on guys 5-15. I don’t see it being them.
New York can still get two guys, that’s been known for while as well. KD and Kyrie, or KD and Kawhi, or whatever duo still doesn’t really fit the bill IMO. BK is in the same boat, Clippers in that same boat.
How much room does Dallas have? Could it be something like Kemba, Jimmy, Luka, Porzingis?
I just don’t see what makes this mind blowing team right now.. especially considering we just had an All-NBA level starting 5 on GS this past season if healthy... I don’t see anything that tops that.

Time would tell. But that would be pretty dirty.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
I mean those 3 would be instant contenders, but would still need lots of defense, shooting, and depth, with no money to get it.
And a lot depends on how much better Kuzma gets, and how little Bron regresses, and how healthy Davis is before it really even enters the realm of GS.. on paper anyways.
