Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
What’s the All-Star limit on one team before we can bitch and moan about breaking the league? Just asking for future reference. I think it was 3 but might have changed

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Lakers are all in for next year. I get the allure of Kemba and Kyrie. But I rather them spend that money on depth. They could have up to 32.5 mill(if AD waives his trade bonus). They could get 4-5 solid role players with that. I still like Pat Dev, Dedmon, Reddick as options. Add in a couple 3& D wings and backup PG, that is a solid overall team
That list could also include guys like Millsap and Favors as well. If their options aren’t picked up.
Kemba taking 25ish and them having 7-8 mil to find a starting SG would still be pretty solid. If someone like JJ would drop from 10 to 7, though he might do it for 3 years guaranteed money. They won’t reach the luxury tax but can get over the cap, so they should qualify for the full MLE which is nearly 10 mil.. long shot here would be Denver declines paying Millsap 30 mil and he agrees to sign for that for one season. Though other options are out there..
Biggest issue I see with the spread the money out option is getting a point guard. I don’t think Beverly would go there, Rozier likely priced out and with no Kyrie I don’t know that he even wants to leave. Collison is serviceable, but a point guard rotation if he and Caruso would be somewhere in the bottom of the pack of the league.
But there are lots of options available outside the PG spot. Redick, Lamb, Ariza, Thad Young, Gay, Green, D Jordan, Lopez, Dedmon, Temple, Curry, Portis, Gibson, etc.
Long shot guys declining options like Horford, Millsap, Whiteside, Favors, Randle, etc.
LeBron’s boys Shump, Jeff Green, Klutch guys like Morris, Noel, KCP, could come over too. Over the hill guys like Noah, J Crawford.

2019 Offseason Thread
Said yesterday in the Celtics team thread. I would have considered Ainge trading for AD a fireable offense. Kyrie leaving is one thing, a low-risk deal gone bad. Sending away Brown, Smart, and Tatum for a player openly against playing for your team is madness. Simply could not be done.
Good for the Lakers getting their guy and the Pelicans receiving one heck of haul in return.
I’m happy, Lakers and Pelicans fans are happy, the everything is fine crew are super bummed.
Beautiful day all around.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Is Pelinka gonna swing for a homerun or smartly try to round out the roster with what they actually need- shooters and defensive-minded players?
That roster is screaming for Redick, Pat Beverly and DeAndre Jordan type players. Depth is gonna be an issue in the West as we just saw in the playoffs.Comment

Y’all going to sign Rozier to a deal? Bring back Rondo/IT?

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Depth should not be a concern? AD is injury prone and LeBron isn't getting any younger.
I don't think any of the guys I mentioned are gonna settle for the MLE or take a vet minimum contract.
And I don't think LeBron + AD + Kemba guarantees they get out of the West.Comment

Ainge has always had a great deal of love for Terry so I would not be shocked to see him give a competitive offer. Will have to see what other teams are offering though because I imagine he signs where the most money is on the table. There will be no hometown discount in play, lol.Comment

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Next years Lakers pick is not part of the trade. I guess full details haven’t been released, but per Ramona Shelburne through pick swaps the Pelicans essentially have control over the Lakers draft picks for the next 7 years.

Re: 2019 Offseason Thread
Is there any trade NY or Memphis would consider to give up their pick?
4th overall + the 2 Lakers picks + literally anything else minus the 1st pick?
If NO ended up with Zion and RJ and basically nobody else on the team, they could just build from the ground up and sign FAs.
You need superstars but also role player depth. A killer 3 pt shooter, big rebounder, strong defender, guys like that for specific situations off the bench.Comment

I'm not sure what that has to do with what I said..?

- People talked about the lack of depth with the Celtics...they won a championship and had multiple trips to finals
- People talked about the lack of depth with the Heat...they won championships and had multiple trips to the finals
- People talked about the lack of depth with Cavs...they won a championship and had multiple trips to the finals
- People talked about the lack of depth with Warriors...they won championships and had multiple trips to the finals.
So yes of course, depth matters...most of the time.
Depth is much less important when you have three max level guys. Especially when you are talking about fielding two of the top five players in the entire league.Comment
