So why not trade back if they are wanting Green? I’m sure one of Toronto/Cleveland would want Cade if given the opportunity. Why not make them give up something for a swap.

I imagine the only team they might feel comfortable trading down with is Houston. Seems like a decent chance Green goes #2 so trading down past that would be pretty risky.

Right, I don't think it's a lock that Mobley goes #2. Unless HOU loves Cade I'm not sure DET has much wiggle room.

Can teams make agreements to not draft a player if picks are traded? Like let's say Detroit wants Green at #2 overall instead of #1 and Houston wants Cade so Detroit trades down to #2 only if Houston agrees not to draft Green #1?

Sure, a handshake agreement. But if the pick got traded and Cade got hurt before the Draft no one could force whoever traded for the pick to not pick Green.

That's how it starts. Eventually he will speed up. That's how you build it up. His selling point is that he has a long wing span. Don't be Shane Battier. All I'm saying is he's building muscle memory. He'll get there.

Sure but draft picks aren't usually traded in advance of draft night though. Didn't the Celtics trade out of the #1 pick on draft night to take Tatum?

I mean sure. They could just make the trade on draft night like most are, so Detroit would take Cunningham, Houston would take Green, and they’d execute the trade the next day.

I guess I should've been more specific, can the teams make an agreement that the trade is null/void if they violate the agreement?

The point is that isn't necessary given how they work the trade. I doubt you can put stipulations into trades, which is why they play out the way they do with rights being traded after a player is selected.

If it doesn't against any NBA rule, guess I don't see any reason why a provision like you described wouldn't be allowed.

It’s amazing how wrong ESPN analysts are when it comes to mocks.

Bulls threw everyone for a loop taking Patrick Williams at 4 last year and ESPN had Deni as a Top 5 pick.

They’re not plugged in. Never have been.

And my heart is not set on Bouknight who we know we’d have to trade up to get anyway.

They're plugged in pretty well. Some teams are so tight-lipped that they won't catch everything. I think they're generally the most accurate mock out there once it we're close to the draft.

They were also caught going back and changing their mocks online after drafts were finished.
