tell a person that cant have a certain job or own a home because they are not old enough people would be mad as hell

And i would like people to explain to me why they need to go to college?
They can become just as good by practicing everyday, learning from some veterans, and playing against great players everyday(while getting paid ex. kevin garnett)

And for people who insist for an age limit what would you do if you came out of high school and you were good enough for the league? would you go to college for two years because you personally think that its better for the league or will you go to the league and accept your money.

for me id go not just 2 yrs to college but 4 yrs or 3 if i could graduate early. sounds like the NBA Players Association is gonna cave into this anyway since the owners have huge leverage after what happened to the NHL. so some of the other things the Players dont want to agree to like the luxrey tax being stiffined and whatnot they will agree to this. whether you like it or not its gonna be passed.

That's part of the problem with pro sports. Nobody cares about anything but talent. And a lot of the time, it's POTENTIAL talent. I for one, would like to see more MATURE athletes out there if little kids around the country are going to emulate everything they do (and they will).

I wonder how people would feel if they put an age limit on everything for example.

The problem with this analogy is that your examples (job, homes) have INTRINSIC age limits. You cannot sign a contract, to buy a home or car, for example, until you are 19 in most states. That is an age limit. On top of that, how many 12 year olds have thousands of dollars in consistent income per month to pay bills? How many 20 year old doctors do you see walking around hospitals?

And i would like people to explain to me why they need to go to college?
The same reason everyone else goes to college. To grow up.

I tend to think working hard in the NCAAs for a couple years under coaches who are more TEACHERS and less EGO CONTROL like in the pros is better for a player than sitting on a bench in the pros, never seeing the floor, and getting paid more money than he knows how to handle. All that does is prevent the kid from learning in college (we're talking education too), hurts NCAA Basketball, and gives the kid a big head. MOST of the time, they never even make an impact in the NBA for whatever reason. Who knows what lessons they may have learned in college that would have helped them. On top of that, NBA franchises would be protected greatly by being able to see these kids against real competition, as opposed to taking shots in the dark.

well i have noticed that the NBA is starting to go to the European style of play ala dallas, and phoenix and are having success. in college you can get as much playing time as you would in the league without having to sit on the bench. although i wouldn't be gettin paid, but id be working toward a degree and earning one since id graduate. plus the avg carrer of a nba player is 3-5 yrs. yeah i know the whole you could blow out your knee and what not, but you could do that playing in a meaningless pre-season game too.

The problem is what about people who arent trying to get degrees should they fake it for two years not going to class getting treatment that could get schools in trouble. Its not worth on the school's side or the players.

Unless the kid wants to experience college I think he should have the right to go pro its up to the media hype machine and these GMs to slow down the trend of kids jumping by stop going watch kids in the 9th grades to going to these shoe camps. These are things they can control which will lower the amount of early entries

he asked me what i would do so i told him. not all people think like i do, and of course i value college hoops better than the NBA always have and always will so of course my views are biased.

Naw I actually felt what what you were saying and I agree selfishly of course you look out for fav sport first. Plus it is a person by person case. I my self after seeing the level of competition on the college level and seeing friends not make it pro quickly realized school was most likely my best option but sadly some kids dont even have that as a choice. Hence the nick name Slowmile Swift given to him after he hit the NBA.

he asked me what i would do so i told him. not all people think like i do, and of course i value college hoops better than the NBA always have and always will so of course my views are biased.
