Are the Kings or Blazers going to be happy barely making it into the play-in.
As a basketball fan, I'm for it. McCollum doesnt make the Pelicans dangerous as far as a title. But, add Zion and have them in the play in and I am legit intrigued as a basketball fan as opposed to not giving a crap about the team. That's something I suppose. After the Zion injury/weight news I was starting to feel like the Pelicans were on borrowed time in New Orleans.

Damn lost Josh Hart. That sucks. I love that dude.

NAW needed a change of scenery. Blazers have the future with NAW and Simons now lol. Team B replacement to CJ and Dame haha jk

          per woj

          New Orleans' 2022 first-round pick:

          1-4: Goes to the Pelicans
          5-14: Goes to the Blazers
          15-30: Goes to the Hornets

          - Blazers get a future first-round pick if it doesn't convey
          - Hornets get future second-round picks if it doesn't convey

Sources: The Blazers are acquiring New Orleans' 2022 first-round pick with protections. The pick comes to the Blazers if it lands between Nos. 5 and 14. If it doesn't convey this year, the first-rounder kicks to the future for Portland.

Weird trade. Was hoping he'd go to a contender.

Very weird trade.. Is Dame going to sit through a rebuild? CJ and Powell out the door for nothing that really fits his timeline. No idea if Bledsoe is staying but in all reality he could be a defensive upgrade for their backcourt, Simons can replace the scoring/shooting load. Obviously you can't play both of them at the same time next to Dame though.

I think if LeVert hadn’t been available we would’ve pushed for CJ. Another hometown dude (my hometown, actually) who could’ve provided a nice boost in scoring and playmaking.

I’m not a draft guy so I don’t know what a lottery pick is going to give this year but I don’t quite get why the Pelicans are making the playoff push now, unless they know Zion will be back this year.

Dame has to see the writing on the wall. Everyone knows he's as loyal as they come. But Portland is a dead end. Dude deserves a chance on a real contender.

If reports of Zion being unhappy with their failures to put together a competitive team are true then it makes sense to improve the team while they can even if he doesn't come back or even if they don't make the play-in this season. Getting a decent draft pick probably doesn't move the needle much and we've seen how not-so-great their recent off-seasons have been... And if nothing else CJ is a more tradable piece than what they already had. If he doesn't fit for them he can be moved this off-season.

I can see the optics of getting cap flexibility and opening up a lot of space. But, Portland isn't a free agent destination and isn't a good free agent class to begin with assuming top guys resigns. Maybe the play is to tank rest of season and pair their pick and NO and Simons for a star.

I feel like the most logical move would be Westbrook+THT+1st for Dame+Bledsoe right? lololol

Tired of Dame, let him be a martyr in Portland.
