I bet that's what Portland is trying to do. Why not? The current team reached its peak a few years ago in the WCF. Dame clearly wants to be there so reward him by swinging for the fences. If it doesnt workout what have you really lost? I dont get the hate Dame gets just wanting to stay where he's happy at. If they strike out and Dame is cool you could still trade him, albeit for probably less (especially if hes on a new deal). But if Dame stays and never wins a chip he will still be always be a legend in Portland. I felt the same way about Westbrook and OKC but it feels weird now considering how funky he has looked since leaving the Thunder.

The Pacers are including a 2027 second-round pick in the deal to the Kings, sources tell ESPN.

Wow! They came up off Haliburton. I thought for sure they'd move Fox and at least see how Haliburton and Mitchell look. But, Sacramento has two really good players on the squad now and that hasn't been the case in forever. I like it for Sacramento all things considered.

Woj on the plan for Portland moving forward after today.

Portland's plan is to fully reshape roster around Damian Lillard now. Portland created a $21M trade exception today, potentially $60M in salary cap space this summer, multiple draft picks and assets via Pels and Clippers trades. Plan is to pursue high-end talent now, not retreat.

Good for Portland but it feels like they’ve failed at this 10 times already lol.

Feel like the Pacers win that trade. Haliburton is very, very good.

In fact, the Pacers absolutely win this trade. They’ve just got a point guard that they can build their team around for the next 5-10 years.

He is, but how different is he than Brogdon? And are they trading Buddy or just giving him LeVert’s minutes to play their rookie less. Weird trade to me. And as good as Haliburton seems it would appear that Sac doesn’t ever picture him being “the guy” moving him for Sabonis and keeping Fox.

They’re a free agent destination if they’re winning, much like every other city not named LA, NY, Chicago and Miami.

I think it’s all about optics and how likeable you are as a player.

But I agree with this. He’s still going to be a HOFer and we’re not going to look at his career any different/funny just because he doesn’t have a ring.

Dame has stuck it out. Hopefully they can pair him with something this off-season.

You have to assume Portland went to Lillard and ran the deals by him before they made them. Even though they didn't a lot of assets I think you have to wait and see what happens this summer. This also means they will hold on to their 1st round pick this year.

Also I paired Fox with Sabonis in my 2k mygm I'm posting here so odd another thing came to life I did. The only difference is I paired them to Indiana instead of Sacramento.

Further looking/reading at what NO gave up…it’s low risk for them because they didn’t really give up anything of significance to get McCollum.

Obviously, we still need to see how he’ll fit down there next to Ingram(not counting Zion until we see him on a court again)on the floor but outside of that, what did they really give up/lose that could hurt them in the long term?

As dumb as the play-in games are(as far as how significant/important they are)some teams will look at making that as some sort of accomplishment since it’s considered a meaningful game and they’re not that far outside of that 10th spot.

That deal straight up doesn't seem so good for the Pacers. Only way I could see it even making sense is if it's really a 3 team deal and Pacers manage to get another 1st rounder for Dragic, so they'd walk out with two 1sts for Turner.

Which would set up an interesting draft for them. They'd have a likely top 5 pick(their own) and 3 firsts likely falling in the 20s. Probably could package those and get another lottery pick, which leads to their future being Haliburton, Duarte, Jackson(22nd pick last year), a top 5 pick and another guy they got from the 22 lottery.
