I kind of get where they are coming from to a point. There was a time I liked the way they called it in college. If you're out of control it was a charge. Sometimes they call it for any contact. While the NBA has a more strict ruling around it. A lot of guys Euro step and get a charge at the college level. While the NBA you need to be squared up more.

The outcry from these people is reactionary BS. If Ja showed some self-control then he wouldn't have hurt himself the way he did but he hasn't matured enough on the court just yet. Same with Giannis, expand your game and shoot a floater to avoid that contact and your back isn't busted.

The league doesn't need to help the offensive players anymore, they have enough advantages as it is.

"Sources: Full terms of NBA's 65-game minimum to be eligible for honors such as MVP, All-NBA, DPOY:
Starting with the 2024-25 salary cap year, any team that is below the minimum salary floor (90% of the cap) on the first day of the regular season will not receive a tax distribution.

Ex: San Antonio would have forfeited $15.2M this season."

Players must play 20 minutes in at least 65 games – with protections against season-ending injury (62 games), near misses in minutes (2 games at 15 min.), bad faith circumstances."

I like that idea of a cap floor too.

That's needed in baseball more than basketball though.

Can you imagine if MLB had a salary cap floor where if your roster isn't even 50% of the luxury tax, you don't get the money?

But I wonder if we'll see creative ways to get to the floor. NHL teams have abused it like crazy to the point where some teams are probably being kept around just for the sole purpose of being everyone's shady bank in a way where you just give them a draft pick and they help clear money off your books.

Would we see the NBA owners want to have retained salary transactions?

Imagine a guy being owed 25m, and a contending team wants to acquire him, but don't have the room to do so. Could they turn it into a 3 team deal where the original team retains 5m but gets a 2nd round pick for doing so, and the 3rd team who wants to get to the floor retains 15m and also gets a 1st pick, so the contending team only takes back 5m for that guy.

I feel it'll make more teams like Current San Antonio or OKC more be more willing to take on a bad contract in trades in order to be at the cap floor. Yeah, I don't like teams benefiting off of not spending any money at all

I've been on team Ban The Charge for years. I would much prefer you being forced to make a real defensive play. I have been since this KD play when he was going off against GS years ago.And he missed a couple weeks. Stuff like that is just trash.

However, with the way the game has been reffed the last few years I suppose you can't do it. If they enforced the current rules properly with regards to how they handle offensive players doing whatever they want AND then got rid of non-basketball plays like the one above that'd be beautiful.

getting rid of the pump n jump was huge, next should be getting rid of the off arm space clearer

edit: the fact that a defender is incentivized to flop for a 50/50 call rather than defend the shot is next, if offensive players can't use their off arm on the way up will drastically help.

                    Shocked but also not shocked.

Guess the rumors were true after all (about losing the locker room)?

Wonder who will be his replacement?

Udoka has been a rumored candidate, but I don't see Masai wanting to bring him in.

"The NBA got rid of the dress code and Nurse has never been the same.

Check his record with window pane suits. It’s the best in the league."

OJ has said it already, but they need to either move OG or Pascal to make way for Scottie Barnes to be a big minutes guy or move him for assets or draft capital.

This "in-between" a rebuild and contending is going nowhere fast, IMO.

I also think they need to move on from FVV. He was a great story and helped them win a championship, but he'll never be a true lead guard while also taking ballhandling duties away from more multifaceted guys (Pascal, Scottie, and/or OG).

Crazy that Nurse went from arguably the best coach in the NBA to out of a job in 4 years.

Stupid decision on the part of Masai and the Raptors, IMO, while he's on the short list of names I hope the Spurs target to possibly become Pop's successor.

Ehhh Don’t know about calling him the best coach at any point, even with the qualifier of “arguably”. He’s been one of the most creative ones, I’ll give him that.

4-5 years removed from that only Championship, I feel like it was bound to get to this point eventually. If he had 2, he’d be there for as long as he wanted.

Depending on what goes on with Ty Lue(there’s been talking from local Clippers Media he may step down)I could see him going there, reuniting with Kawhi. I hope he avoids Houston because I want to see Cassell finally get a HC gig and take that one.
