I think it's more of a "Star return" package. They want quality draft picks and young ascending player(s). Which is pretty much saying that they don't want the Bradley Beal package lol. Yes, nowadays if a star wants to Team X, he ends up in team. But when you think KD to the Suns, they had the enticing young players. Dame has years left on contract and doesn't have a NTC. Herro isn't enticing enough to headline a package. If I'm Portland, I'm only trading Dame to Miami if its a three team deal where Herro and Nurkic is going to the third team and I'm getting a young player with upsides and a lot of picks.

My only point is they originally came out and said they were working with him to get him somewhere he wants to be, this latest report that they're looking beyond Miami and want a star in return is the opposite of that. It could all be posturing to try and squeeze everything they can from Miami but seeing as this front office seems inept I wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt either.

I get that Houston's owner is being inpatient, but they pretty much gave up Garuba, Martin JR, Christopher, and Washington for nothing. They probably saw that Twitter video with Christopher and Green and felt they had to ship him out lol.

If I had to guess the rotation, I'd say FVV-Green-Brooks-Smith-Sengun. Then Thompson-Porter JR-Whitmore-Eason-Landale. I don't see Patty Mills and Jeff Green playing much. I can see Tate getting traded

Irritating part to this is Portland made the WCF with CJ and Dame scoring and role players like Aminu and Harkless chipping in timely buckets but fully understanding their roles. They played defense and competed then Harkless and Aminu were gone, defense went to ****, Stotts was a scape goat and they haven't done a ****ing thing since then. Traded CJ for pieces that didn't last 2 years before being shipped elsewhere, they claimed they couldn't compete with 2 small guards then immediately went out and started Simons and Dame as if that wasn't a poor man's version of what they just broke up. The team then signed Nurkic to a trash contract knowing full well he was soft on defense despite needing defense. Been a Portland fan since the original days of Rip City with Clyde, Porter, Kersey, Duckworth etc but the front office these days is a colossal **** up on every level.

I wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt either. That Grant contract looked bad yesterday and worse now. Only way it helps is if they get rid of Nurkic as well, is that it'll help them reach the salary cap floor lol in future years.

I do think it's posturing. I think they want to make Dame happy, but at the same time they don't want to screw themselves over either. If they take a Miami package as it is now, that doesn't set them up well.

Even if they rope in a 3 team to take on Herro, what's the best player you can get for Herro. If I'm a team trading for Herro, the best you're getting is salary matching players and a protected first..

Harkless situation was weird. Portland was at their best with him, not a lockdown defender but a good defender guarding a lot of teams big names. Clippers similar situation. He goes there and is playing and I thought legitimately looked like their best defender most nights despite having PG and Kawhi. And some of his most efficient shooting. I thought they got worse after dumping him to get Morris, and he was cheaper.

Bounced around some since then not really finding a role. I don’t even think he was on a roster last year? He’s only 30. I understand he probably doesn’t convert enough open threes to carve out a big role but I don’t get how he’s not a guy lots of teams are after for at least a small part of the rotation.

Especially as a wing. In today's NBA, if you're a wing that can hold your own on defense and at least willing to fire off open threes, you're likely to at least get a roster spot or at least some minutes. I didn't know he wasn't on a roster.

Just saw a video of Josh Christopher and Jalen Green that scarred me for life. So that's Rockets culture.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned, they probably wanted to ship him out of there lol. They saw that video and probably begged Memphis to take him off their hands lol. They got rid of the kids and brought in vets change that weird culture.

It's one thing when the drama is knocking up strippers or trying to protray the street life, but that video was too spicy for me lol

Exactly my point, they actually played defense and competed. Then for some reason they just let both guys walk and expected to maintain the same defense with guys who basically played next to no defense. As much as I love Dame, and Lord knows I do, he was not a defender, he has always been a guy who stands and watches while getting beat back door. Fans ignored it because of "Dame time" and all the offense he brought, his likeable personality and his involvement in the community but he was a part of the problem defensively. Nurkic isn't a rim protector to mask the defensive deficiencies from both guard spots which made his contract all the more head scratching. They always talked a big game about focusing on defense, making it a priority and then they'd go out and **** the bed nightly.

I heard about it, and saw a yt video that showed like a second of it and thought people were overreacting until I saw the whole thing.

I'm just going to say **** is weird. Its like if they gay thats cool, go ahead and be gay I don't care. Just not on the same team, but for the same reason you wouldn't want a player knocking down a female assistant coach. But if you aren't claiming gay, bro thats weird af. "Nah I ain't gay, I just dry hump the homies once in a while."

But its just a different time now where everything could be recorded and shared on social media. I'm pretty sure its a good thing we never saw some of the stuff Rodman was probably doing
