He's been playing at an all star level. Hopefully it continues

Most of the quality free agents are committed, I don't mind that it's going faster. It's mainly the Restricted guys that are worthwhile. If you need a PG, you're pretty much SOL outside of Ayo. With SF, it'd Oubre, then a a big drop off.

Certain guys are obviously waiting to see how the Dame and Harden trades work out first. Obviously, Dame is more likely to get traded first, then Philly will decide whether to keep playing hardball with Harden. I can see a Dame trade within next couple days. So far for Philly, it was signing Pat Bev, and losing three guys. Philly needs at least 2 wings in the worse way and they're better filling that need in a trade.

I like this move for us. Need one more move out of AK I think, but a decent offseason for us so far I think.

Realistically? Yes I think so. I just don’t see how he ever bounces back completely from this. Dude was still having pain walking up and down stairs and he’s on like his 3rd knee procedure since originally getting hurt 2 seasons ago now. Maybe he comes back and has a decent Shaun Livingston type of career but I don’t think he ever gets to what he was again

              Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

160m to Jerami Grant (when they might be headed towards a rebuild) still just seems wild to me. I know it’s a 5 year deal, so per year it’s not as bad at it seems. But man seeing the T-Wolves only have to commit 45m to Naz Reid, Lakers 51m to Rui, Cam Johnson 108m from BKN, Bucks 102m to Middleton, Washington 102m for Kuzma, Warriors 100m to Draymond..

idk just seems like an unnecessarily large contract in both years and dollars for Jerami Grant. Maybe because in my head I can’t picture what team would have actually been competing against them for that price range. I don’t believe another team in the entire league would have paid him 60m more than guys like Kuz and Cam, or signed him to a deal where he’s getting 30+ million a year… I think only like 4-5 teams even had that kind of cap space to begin with.

Only team that even made sense was maybe Sacramento? But the moment they signed Harrison Barnes they were out of the running too. Who were they trying to outbid? Somebody make it make sense lol.

What's wrong with Shaun Livingston career again? Sorry lol. I know what you were trying to say. But damn. He lived up to his billing in my opinion.

I think his point was maybe Lonzo comes back at some point and has a smaller role he can play, but he’s not going to come back looking like he could be an All-Star caliber guard making all defensive teams for the next decade.

Agree with everything you said. They needed something I guess. I don't think this is a make it make sense to me kind of deal.

                      ^^^This.

Not a knock on Shaun at all. Just saying that when he got hurt, I don’t think anybody thought he’d ever set foot on a court again and not only did he get back, he had a really solid and rather lengthy career capped off with 3 rings as a role player. It just wasn’t the starter/star that a lot of people projected him to be. Some people were giving him Magic comps coming into the league if I’m not mistaken. Lonzo has a puncher’s chance of coming back at some point and having a role like Shaun was able to make for himself, but I don’t think what he was developing into is in the cards for him anymore. Just my opinion

The money is already drying up. Outside of the Restricted guys, guys are now probably signing for part of a MLE at most. Outside of PJ Washington, Oubre, Wood, I see the rest of the UFAs being Vet Min guys. Heck looking at the UFAs left over, I don't see any starting caliber guys. Heck, most of them of them are end of bench guys
