Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Been a busy few days for me. But I actually love the Vogel hire. They need somebody who can come in and get some much better deceive discipline. His offensive creativity feels lacking but they have CP3, Booker, and KD. They’ll be fine on that end always lol.Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Depending on what LAL does this off-season and what direction they want to move going forward, if they don't feel they are a contender getting back a 10th pick for a guy whos hitting 39 with some injury concerns is basically the ideal haul no?
Obviously things are different if they feel like they can win. If they feel like after this season they still have room to either continue winning or utilize cap space. But if the thought is we don't have the pieces/don't want to spend the money to win, and then Bron walks to play with his son...
Side note to that, would Bron be ok with or even push for a trade (technically he doesn't have veto power but still) to play with Kyrie? They are close and have won together, but same goes for he and AD..
And complete curveball.. but fun to think about... If you're Dallas would you trade Luka if it meant getting LeBron and AD both?Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
I wonder if that's Kyrie or maybe Cuban through Kyrie trying to get LeBron.Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
According to Chris Haynes Dallas had intended to make an offer for LeBron this year before the Lakers deadline moves indicated they were trying to turn their season around..
Some of the tweets following this are hilarious though.Comment

More likely scenario(in this particular case)is Kyrie goes to LA. Not saying it’s going to happen so relax, just speaking on *this* scenario. And even that will tough to do as well sooo yeah.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 06-05-2023, 03:41 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
You're throwing me off quoting yourself but also what are we missing here? It looks like Dallas has enough salary to make a trade straight across. Nobody the Lakers would want obviously, but picks would be the haul.
Hardaway, Bertans, and Bullock matches money, they have picks to trade including this years number 10 pick. Not saying the Lakers would do that either, but if the alternative is him walking after next year.. Multiple picks for a guy turning 39 isn't bad for them.
Not saying it's likely. This all feels more like "noise" than anything, most likely for the Lakers to pursue Kyrie. Just like the comments about being un-sure what next years roster will look like, and the "retirement" talk.. But the Kyrie going to LAL is a far more "difficult" path unless Kyrie is willingly ready to take a STEEEP pay cut.
To reach anywhere near enough free money to sign Kyrie outright as a FA I think the Lakers would have to renounce rights to most of the roster. Let DLo walk, let Rui walk, and let all the free agents walk, renounce rights to Beasley and Bamba while retaining rights to Reaves. That would give them Bron-AD-Reaves-Vando-Christie but even in that scenario Kyrie would have to sign for like 30 million. Well below his max. Lakers would also be trading the number 17 pick in that example for no incoming salary, otherwise that number for Kyrie drops to the high 20s. That leaves the Lakers with their MLE and minimum contracts for the rest of the roster.
If they do a sign and trade with Dallas for Kyrie they become hard-capped. Dallas would have to participate (which has been reported they won't) and Kyrie would likely have to basically demand the trade or walk. Davis-Bron-Kyrie (at his max) leaves them with with like 35mil to the hard cap. Regardless of what money is thrown at Reaves Lakers can match with the first year around 11m (Arenas provision), and Christie gets them to around 20m to fill out the rest of the roster. But at no point can they go over that in-season because they are hard-capped.. Again Kyrie could help out here, would he sign for 10 mil less a year to try and retain Rui? idk.. Seems unlikely but if the money doesn't matter.. Could he even sign for a 1+1 type of deal with an agreement with Bron that Kyrie can re-sign for his max after this year and Bron take a smaller offer? Who knows, it's possible but not likely.Last edited by ojandpizza; 06-05-2023, 04:14 PM.Comment

Quoting this because I’m positive none of us have actually read/studied the CBA but either way that move can’t happen even if both wanted it to, lol.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Nash and Jordi Fernandez aren't getting 2nd interviews with Raptors.
I think this is Scariolos job to lose at this point. They're fine delaying his interviews due to his current team commitments, so that sounds to me like they wouldn't be doing that for just one of many candidates, but they'd do it for their leading one.Comment
