Most opposing coaches have complained about Embiid flopping or missing calls on him. But the main thing is that Embiid said that Nurse was "b****hing about calls" and his junk defense to the media. But if Embiid could play with Drummond and Trez with the no issue, then Nurse shouldn't be an issue lol.

Ahhh I gotcha, I actually remember that. I had just been seeing that pop up on the internet discourse and didn’t know the context of it all.

How about you just leave him where he’s at lol.

All jokes aside I’m shocked more teams haven’t tried to pry him away. Maybe they have been and the Grizz are quick to hang up and we never hear about it, but he’s such a great value and Grizz have had multiple other movable contracts to add with him to take back big money players.

Speaking of that, not sure what direction Grizz go with Brooks contract off the books. Still think they should have shopped him a bit more aggressively the past two years. Especially after seeing Bane, and knowing your next few draft picks likely aren’t going to hurt you leaving in a trade.

I don't really follow coaching carousel or rumors for this reason. Kudos to those who possess a basketball iq that allows them to identify what coach would be a good fit for what team, but that is simply beyond me.

I'm a bit simple in that I can recognize coaches that fall within the tails of the bell curve (durr left bad, right gud) but when it comes to the coaches residing in the middle and knowing that one is a better "fit" than another for a certain team, I'm clueless.

I wonder if Nurse backed out so Griffin would get the job?

Or pulling out when he wasn't the choice anyways so it didnt look like his own assistant was chosen over him?

Sucks the Raptors losing Griffin, but seems like they could go with a new coaching staff. I find it hard to believe some names they interviewed are head coach candidates, maybe assistants?

I think the Raptors mentality was the same as the Bucks, they couldn't hire Griffin because h

was related to Nurse and Charles Lee was attached to Bud.

              Clean brakes.

Now, Bucks need to hire assistants with offensive knowledge.

I heard Brook wants to stay in Milwaukee and would probably be a good fit with Griffin.

One needs to wonder if Middleton is in the interviewing the new HC process with Giannis,

              will he stay, too?

              Roster moves will be interesting.

The Raptors coaching search is one of the weirder ones I've seen. Part of it is probably because Raptors don't let out leaks too much, but when they fired Casey, they took a month before hiring Nurse. It's been over a month now since Nurse was fired and minus a few names being speculated on, doesn't even seem like any faves.

Last time a Raptors coaching search took this long was almost 20 years ago when they fired Kevin O'Neill and hired Sam Mitchell. Took 2 months for that. And that was when their franchise took a turn for the worst. The O'Neill tenure here was about as bad as it gets, and this coaching search was basically the tipping point for Vince Carter to want out (management refused to listen to him when he was giving suggestions on coaches, basically the "just go and play basketball while we handle the rest" line)

"ESPN Sources: Nick Nurse has reached an agreement to become the next coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. Nurse — who won an NBA championship and a coach of year award with Toronto — now gets to coach the 2023 MVP Joel Embiid."

                  I like it

Hasn't Embiid even called Nurse out before too?

Yup, he said Nurse was "b***hing about calls" in his press conference and even brought it up subliminally again after the Nets coach complained about Embiid not getting foul calls and basically compared him to Nurse. Also constantly called out Nurse's "junk defense"

I do wonder how it will look. Especially half court offense. But, it'll be refreshing to go from stagent and predictable to experimental.

But, I also understand some of the cons about Nurse. I don't want to see him playing starters heavy minutes all season. I know he can rub people the wrong way and will call a player out in the media. He didn't really develop the younger guys. We have a young guy in Jaden Springer who already has NBA defensive skill, but needs to find a role on offense. I don't think Nurse and Harden would mesh well. Harden likes to do things his way. I don't think a non-player's coach would be okay with Harden taking private flights out every time they have multiple days off in a row.

Hopefully they can keep Sam Cassell around if Doc doesn't get a job. I really like the work he has done with Maxey.

A move for the future, I wonder if Lowry ends up in Philly too.

He's still with the Heat one more year. After that, does he go home to Philly, plays for his old coach he won a title with, then call it a career?

I guess we're maintaining one of the top flopping titles. Not sure I want to see both Embiid and Lowry falling to the floor all game lol. But I wouldn't mind him on a vet deal as a backup role.

I can see Harden and Shake Milton leaving this offseason. So, we'll need two guards. I wouldn't mind seeing a Tobias Harris for Buddy Hield and TJ McConnell. The gravity that Embiid attracts would do wonders for Hield and TJ would give them a good vet PG

                              I found the full quote

“He’s a great coach, obviously … what he’s been able to accomplish. I’ve always been a big fan of him,” Embiid said. “But I told him, respectfully, to stop b***hing about calls, because I saw what he said last game.

“If you’re going to triple team somebody, they’re bound to get to the free-throw line — or if you’re going to push them off, try to hold them off and all that stuff, they’re bound to get to the free-throw line. I feel like all the fouls were legit and there probably should’ve been more, honestly.”

It does feel weird seeing the head coach of a team who faced the 76ers twice in the last 4 years now join them.

Provably happened more recently than I think, but I wonder how often you see a coach join a team he went up against multiple times in the playoffs in less than 5 years.
