Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
It's a weird spot because he's obviously a talented scorer, but has never brought a ton else to the table. Every cast they've tried around him always seems to have some flaws where if maybe he was a better defender, better play-maker, etc it wouldn't matter as much as it does. He's not one-dimensional but I feel like to win whatever team he goes to needs all their boxes checked. It's almost like Donovan Mitchell to an extent, he got back three firsts and two swaps.. But Dame is about to turn 33. He's not "old" yet, but not everyone is still a stud at 35 either. With the Mitchell trade you're getting possibly a decade of All-Star production, this could be 2-3 years.
Herro is just 23. Is a 20 a night guy for Miami. Something centered around him and 2 firsts seems like a good start. I don't know what Miami's tradeable pick stable looks like, or what other teams would offer, but Portland would be going rebuild here. I'd offer all the picks if they would also facilitate coming off Lowry's contract for a useful player in return. Herro, Lowry, Jovic and every pick/swap they realistically could trade for Lillard and Nurk. Portland might be able to get out of a few mil by agreeing to a Lowry buyout there as well. Seems beneficial to both sides.Comment

2023 Offseason Thread
I think they can get more creative than that. Looks like they could trade their 24 pick, swap the 26, trade the 28, and trade the 30. And could include this year technically too once the player is drafted. And technically add some swaps in-between.Last edited by ojandpizza; 06-07-2023, 02:37 PM.Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Miami is a harder team to just predict seems like they aren't going to trade for someone that isn't their kind of player. I don't see them adding a non defender unless they are giving up one of Robinson or Hero.
Still feels like NBA players are clueless about going to these teams with other star players. lets say Lillard went to Miami they would have to gut the entire team and draft picks to get him.

Closest is Lakers for AD, but that was bubble year, so do we count that?
Before that, who else gave up multiple 1sts for a superstar where it paid off like that?Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Chris Paul will get way more than the vet min. His issue is being healthy, tons of teams would take him for a smaller role, back-up, load management when needed IMO. Can't convince me contenders wouldn't drop their MLE on him at least.
Clippers were the first team to pop in my head. But everyone is now saying returning to Phoenix for a cheaper deal is a possibility. I didn't know teams could do that.Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
He could definitely get more than the minimum if he were just taking the money. It’ll be a little more complicated assuming he limits himself to contenders because a lot of them will only have access to the taxpayer MLE or maybe not even that.
Doesn’t feel super likely but depending on how they waive him, Phoenix could just re-sign him at a cheaper number too I believe.

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
Apparently that report was false.. go figure with Chris Haynes breaking the news.
Phoenix plans to have discussions with Chris, which could be trade, stretch, waive and re-sign. They have not waived him, or notified him that he will be waived.
Chris supposedly wants to stay and play with Book and KD - per Woj
Chris wants a decision to be made before his contract is guaranteed so he can proceed into marketplace if he’s indeed waived.Comment

Re: 2023 Offseason Thread
I can definitely see Atlanta making some trades this offseason. They have six guys making over $18M which is crazy, and with this new upcoming CBA, they will have to get shed some salary for the future.
Which is where Tobias Harris would come in handy. I do think his salary finally becomes a positive asset since it's an massive expiring deal for someone who isn't seen as a bad fit on most teams. You trade for him and you'll clears the books. If it's a Philly-AtL trade involving Tobias, it'll probably have to involve two of ATLs top paid guys since ATL is in the luxury tax. It would be something like Tobias and Kormaz for Collins and Bogdanovic. For ATL, it's mainly a move to shed future salary and focus on 2024 and beyond. For Philly, not sure about the Collins and Embiid fit, but it would be an intriguing lineup. Assuming you lose Harden, Maxey-Bogdanovic-(insert SF)-Collins-Embiid and move Tucker to the bench. Either start Jalen McDaniels figure out a way to use Harden to get a TPE and get a solid 3 & D wing. That's not a bad lineup. They would have enough scoring to reduce Embiid’s load, while also fixing Sixers rebounding issues. Collins had his worse season, but could bounce back.Comment
