Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons 2006-07 Thread***

I won 1st place in my NCAA pool, so I got tickets and transportation to the Wednesday night game against the Magic. Looking at the standings the Bulls are 4 games back. I believe though the Bulls have the tie breaker for the season series. So if Im not mistaken the Pistons could win tonight against the knicks and if the Bulls win on Tuesday then the Pistons can clinch the division at Wednesdays game? Or if the Pistons lose tonight and Bulls lose the division isn't clinched yet?

I thought last night I heard the Magic Number was 3, now I believe it's 2 with the Raptors win over the Bulls. Just trying to get my tickets worth!

It was mainly because Sheed didn't practice leading up to the Cavalier game due to his hyperextended finger. Plus it was an easier way to limit his minutes. Sheed was back starting against New York, though.

Yeah, you're right. The magic number is now one after the win over the Knicks last night. The #1 seed can be clinced by the Pistons with a win over the Magic at The Palace.

There's an excellent article posted at SI on the Pistons. Well worth the read.

Really hoping the guys close this one out on Saturday, no reason to give the Magic any glimmer of hope. Just broom them and relax, and HOPEFULLY watch the Bulls and Heat go a grueling 6/7 games (aka...please win tomorrow Miami).

I'll catch some heat for this (probably well deserved), but I'm done for this season, regardless of what happens on Saturday. I've let my emotions take too tight of a hold on me when watching this team, and it's no longer fun or entertaining for me watching them.

As I posted in the playoffs thread, I don't think Cleveland will let them off the hook again. Part of me hopes I'm wrong...but the sad thing is, part of me hopes I'm right, because I just can't take it anymore. This team's heart died in San Antonio two years ago, and they've had an unwarranted sense of entitlement ever since.

I know, I know, I'm the worst fan ever. I can't help it though...just the way I am.

I think, and I hate to say it, but this team died when Larry Brown left. Brown had a way of keeping Rasheed somewhat under control, and seemed to light a fire under Detroit that Flip just cant, not sure if its the difference of wanting a title with Brown and already having a title now with Flip but when Brown left some of this teams intensity on defense left with him.

Hey Psy, you know you will be watching Game 6, I hear ya now but its tough after a 2OT loss, it will wear off and your opptimism will return just in time.

You're probably right, actually. Unless I can find somewhere else to be (unlikely), I'll probably end up watching.

It's funny/pathetic, I've said that countless times over the past few years that I won't watch the next game, and I've only actually done it twice: Game 6 vs. New Jersey in 2004 and Game 6 vs. San Antonio in 2005.

As for my optimism returning.....well it had to have been there in the first place for it to return.

Nah, bruh...your'e the best kind of fan. The kind that loves the team so much he gets mad when they don't play to their max potential, and isn't afraid to say it. If my homie starts smoking crack, I'm not going to make excuses or give him a pass, I'm gonna kick his a**. Thats real.

Trust me man, I've cried over my teams. Not just sniffles...flat out bawled.

You may be pissed, but you'll watch.

Hang in there bro. When I was younger I used to get just as upset. It wears off when you get older, at least for me it does.

You should have seen me when the Cubs lost Game 6 against Fla. in the 03 NLCS. I didn't want to go on anymore. That was the worst feeling I ever had as a sports fan, and I can't see any way in hell I will ever feel like that again. For weeks I was just a lost soul. Although as a Cubs fan the misery is x50.

Sorry, I can't give you the pass other posters are giving you.

Saying you hope they lose so you can be done with it.... That's a terrible fan. Getting pissed or upset, that's a fan. But wishing it was over so you don't have to worry about it, not a fan.

I guess when I've lived and died through Red Right 88, The Fumble, The Drive, The Mesa, The Shot, The 84 NFL playoff game agasint Miami, etc and so on. I've had my heart broken more times than I can count, but nothing ever makes me hope they lose.

The idea of your team's run being over on Saturday should ache in the pit of your stomach.

Stop taking the easy way out by throwing them under the bus. You're just showing that you (like so many modern day fans) are the one's lacking the passion.... yet try to package it the opposite.
