Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons 2006-07 Thread***
Hang in there bro. When I was younger I used to get just as upset. It wears off when you get older, at least for me it does.
You should have seen me when the Cubs lost Game 6 against Fla. in the 03 NLCS. I didn't want to go on anymore. That was the worst feeling I ever had as a sports fan, and I can't see any way in hell I will ever feel like that again. For weeks I was just a lost soul. Although as a Cubs fan the misery is x50.
Why do you have to go and mention that Cubs game? I'm still not over it!
Back on topic.
Psy, I agree with EG. A fan is in it through everything. You have to take the bumps and bruises along the way. Heck, most of us would love to be in your situation and actually have a team to root for in the conference finals. You may feel bad now but I don't understand why you're "done" with the Pistons though. Trust me it could be a lot worse than being a Pistons fan and being down 3-2 in the ECF. By the way, this series isn't over yet.
What is it like to be a fan of of a sports team? Yes it's nerve wrecking and miserable at times but that's what makes it so great when your team actually wins. Winning is just that much sweeter when you have gone through the bad times."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons 2006-07 Thread***
I'll catch some heat for this (probably well deserved), but I'm done for this season, regardless of what happens on Saturday. I've let my emotions take too tight of a hold on me when watching this team, and it's no longer fun or entertaining for me watching them.
As I posted in the playoffs thread, I don't think Cleveland will let them off the hook again. Part of me hopes I'm wrong...but the sad thing is, part of me hopes I'm right, because I just can't take it anymore. This team's heart died in San Antonio two years ago, and they've had an unwarranted sense of entitlement ever since.
I know, I know, I'm the worst fan ever. I can't help it though...just the way I am.
C'mon, that is just ignorant. Things may not be going the way you want but giving up them is rediculous. Can they win game 6? Yes. Will they? Maybe
They have put such a good run together over the last five years some people just cannot handle this. Instead of jumping ship you should take some time to think about what LeBron did last night.
On a side note. Last night proved what a Superstar can do for a team. Detroit does not have someone who can take over in games and to be honest it is very rare that a 1 vs. 5 can come out on top.
The real question is if this is the end of the season is it time to break up the nucleus and let some of the new players (Maxiel, Amir) get in the main rotation. I do not liek the idea of messing with what is still a very solid team but sometimes you need to think about the future as wellActually...believe it or not from my physique... That's been on my mind as well. It doesn't take an expert to see that the current line up won't be successful much longer; not title contenders anyway. We're gonna need some young big men in the very near future. Maxiell's good but I don't think he's a big minute type of player. He's a good player bring in for energy.Webber, Wallace and McDyess are obviously in the twilight of their careers. Of course, I'd love to keep Billups, Hamilton and Prince together (emphasis on Hamilton and Prince)PS: You guys are great.

The Pistons shouldn't break up the nuclues. Just work the younger guys into the playing rotation during next regular season. Amir Johnson will definitely get playing time next year like Jason Maxiell has this year. I'm not too sold on Will Blalock at the moment, but hopefully he has improved on his jumper enough to be able to contribute to the team offensively next season as well. And word is our 7-foot draft pick of last year Cheik Samb developing nicely overseas. He should be ready to do something over here in '08.

Some fans have a "Just Win Baby" mentality and don't care if their team wins "ugly","dirty" "cocky", "halfheartedly", just as long as they win, and that probably is the most healthy perspective to have.
Other fans are even more greedy then that. They want to have their cake and eat it too(I'm that way) They want their team to not only win, but win with "class", "style", great execution, and giving all out effort all the time.
When you get it, its a major high, but it also means that much of the time you're unhappy, even with wins. Is it unreasonable? Sure, but "fan" didn't come from the word fanatic by accident.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Take a listen to this Joe Dumars audio interview at WDFN that's posted at MLive. Joe D goes over a lot of topics here that covers the team here. It's well worth the listen for Pistons fans.

Pistons trade Delfino to Raptors
Friday, June 15, 2007
By A. Sherrod Blakely
AUBURN HILLS — As the playoffs wore on for the Detroit Pistons, Carlos Delfino's role seemed to get smaller and smaller.
So it wasn't all that surprising that the two parted ways on Friday when the Pistons traded the 6-foot-6 forward to Toronto in exchange for two, second-round picks.
Delfino, who averaged career highs in scoring average (5.2), rebounds (3.2), field goal percentage (42%and minutes played (16.7) during the regular season, struggled mightily throughout the playoffs. His production declined in each series, and ended with him averaging just 1.3 points in the Conference finals which the Pistons lost, to Cleveland.
"We appreciate everything Carlos did for us while he was here and we wish him all the best with Toronto," Dumars said in a statement released Friday evening.
Delfino's departure means the Pistons are in the market for a small forward to play behind Tayshaun Prince. They can fill the void through the June 28 NBA draft, which includes several talented small forwards such as Georgetown's Jeff Green, Florida State's Al Thornton and Florida's Corey Brewer. While all of those players are expected to be off the draft board when the Pistons select with the No. 15 pick, Vanderbilt's Derrick Byars should be available.
The Pistons can also look to sign a small forward via free agency. Several are available this summer, including ex-Piston Grant Hill who has not ruled out a return to Detroit.Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons 2006-07 Thread***
Hill back to Detroit? Interesting...
I'd love Thornton as well, but doubt he slips that far. Delfino was too inconsistant, he'd dunk on people one night and then tip toe the next. I still think he had some upside and don't agree w/ the trade, but can't argue w/ what Dumars has already done, so I'll just suck it up.Comment

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons 2006-07 Thread***
Delfino had to be moved. They need roster space to get Amir and Max time, plus it's a clear indication that Joe really values the level of player they are going to get at 15.
The more interesting rumbles of today are the talk of Sheed for Marion. I've heard it in ranges from straight up to Phoenix wanting Sheed, both picks and another starter.
I would definately do it straight up. I'd even give Sheed and the second of the two first rounders.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

Re: ***Official Detroit Pistons 2006-07 Thread***
Trading Sheed for Marion? That's a short-term suicide deal for this team, and probably long-term suicide too for several reasons.
Anyway, Derrick Byars would be a good choice too. I wouldn't mind getting him at 27.
So far the most popular prospect linked to the Pistons has been Rodney Stuckey. I also heard the Pistons had interest in Nick Young, but that could just be a smokescreen.
Edit: ESPN.com has posted an audio podcast with Chad Ford interviewing Joe D. It's well worth listening to.
