You could just tell that everyone in the building wanted to talk about how stupid this organization is.

Their explanation is incredibly stupid as well. "He plays defense."

Uh, so do Singleton and Faried. And guess what, they are big and can rebound.

This organization is purposely screwing with its fans.

I don't consider Faried big. That's my only turnoff with him.

I don't claim to follow college basketball, but if this pick was for defense, I thought they would've gone with Singleton no question. He's already been labeled an elite defender, and we draft a guy who wouldn't have been looked at in the first round by any other team, passing up the rebounding monster Faried in the process? So many options with the pick, lots of guys we didn't expect to fall that far actually fell, and we draft a second rounder? I'm just so confused right now. Anyone know anything about Shumpert?

Yea. I'm a Virginia Tech student and ACC bball follower so I saw Shumpert a few times. GT sucked but in that game Barry was talking about against us, he did make our PG Malcolm Delaney his bitch. Delaney was ACC leading scorer last year and near the top this year, but Shumpert gave him all sorts of fits. He, however, cannot shoot. Period. So not a D'Antoni pick. I did watch him jack jumper after jumper and not connect. But he's a good defender and super athletic. 42" vert and 18 reps on bench, 1 off Derrick Williams.

One thing I think we could use is athleticism and we got it with that pick. I would have been alright with Singleton too but he's another guy that strikes me as a tweener.

Hahn tweeted that Donnie fell in love with Iman when he shut down Jimmer one-on-one in workouts. So he shutdown a guy who has big question marks over his head about if he can score in the NBA? Not sure that warrants such a big reach.

I like Shumpert but he's obviously a huge reach at #17. He could turn out well, I really don't think there's that much of a bigger risk in him as opposed to Singleton but I would feel much better at this point in time with Singleton on our roster.

There wasn't a single pick thus far questioned or laughed at besides ours.

We'd be booed/laughed at regardless of who we picked. That's how it always is. I agree it was a reach but not as much of one as we've made in previous years.

I don't mean to say that the guy sucks. He plays defense and as mentioned, that's something this organization needed so I'm happy for that.

I just don't understand how you pass on rebounding and defense when you have none of it so you could draft defense.

Well, I can tell you why. It's because those other guys don't score. It's really that simple.

I think there's still plans for Dalembert or someone else. Word came out yesterday that Dally wasn't happy in Sactown. I just want size and toughness in the frontcourt. I don't like the idea of Amar'e being our biggest front court player at all times and him having to guard the big guys of the east. We get mashed when we have to play against teams with 2 guys over 6'9.

And I also don't feel like we have a true SG on the roster. Nor center.

They definitely need a bigger guy than STAT. I guess Shumpert is a big guard so that's good. But it's not like they can't have Singleton (6'9) or Faried (6'8) and not get another guy bigger than STAT.

Well, I'll look on the bright side. Shumpert isn't exactly a scorer either and he's a big guard that can defend. Maybe that puts Fields on the bench. The Knicks already have a scoring 3/2 guy in Anthony so that's covered.

I'll be really really disappointed if they don't grab a rebounder in the 2nd round, though.

Would've rather had Rick Jackson. Let's see how he turns out. A hustle player ala Jeff Foster. Plus we still have Jerome Jordan. Hopefully we can buy 1 more to get Selby or Travis Leslie

I guess I'm ok with Harrellson but I don't think he'll be much of anything for us. Rather have taken Selby at this point and trade Douglas, but I guess that would be counterproductive too.

Didn't want Rick Jackson like I mentioned earlier. Looks like the FO learned their lesson by reaching with a non-NBA talent from Cuse last year with Rautins.
