I'm really okay with anyone like Afflalo, Monroe, West, etc.

I just won't be okay with them making the max or really close to it.

Phil needs to take a stand. If everyone else is offering 75% of the max and they take New York, fine. The market can decide things.

If instead the Knicks are pushing their number up to land these guys, nah. Let them stick with wherever they prefer to be. I don't want guys here that are simply here for the money...

Between KAT, Pecovic and Dieng, I think Minny is stacked with big men. Maybe they'll take a 2025 2nd rounder for this kid.

Interesting times we're in. Huge shift from Harper, Mase, X-Man and Oak.

Can't say we can consistently win with this style of ball but it'll definitely be a vast culture change.

I think Phil likes aesthetically pleasing basketball with unselfish play (which is funny seeing who he has coached).

I still think we need another "stud" FA. Certainly can't draft one for another 2 years.

I think we're going to see a lot of money being slung around this season. Monroe is the only guy in that second tier of free agents I'm okay with maxing out because it'll look like a good bargain when the cap jumps. Plus he's young. I don't want to max out a guy that's probably going into the last contract of his career.

So I'm not clear. Does Minnesota own his rights or are they merely very interested?

They own his rights. I believe he can become a FA next year, but he wants to come to NBA this year. T-Wolves were trying to negotiate a contract with 3 years/12M but he wants more.

Not sure what the Knicks could trade to Minny for him. We do have JR Smith's TPE @ 5.9M we could use along with sending them probably Thanasis and the rights to Louie Labeyrie who we drafted last year in the 2nd rd

My goodness. Look at what this kid does to the champs defense, even in the clutch! Good shooter, composed, smart, great vision, makes teammates better, good finisher even through contact, clutch. He doesn't play, Duke blows them out. 23 points 12 assists.. thats all the teams points.
This kid could be a star. How did he drop that low? whats the knock on him?

We have room for him. We can use Felton's TPE (the one that will expire sooner) for the first year and escalate the average for the 2 remaining years.

Also good to know that we can if need be waive Calderon and stretch his salary.

As the Knicks look to rebuild through the draft and free agency, a few offseason moves could give them even more wiggle room, writes Ian Begley.

                  Knicks TPEs:
New York has four trade exceptions worth between $5.9 million and $1.8 million ($5.9 million from the J.R. Smith trade; $3.6 million from the Raymond Felton trade; $2.6 million from the Iman Shumpert trade; $1.8 million from the Travis Outlaw trade).

Those exceptions can be used in a trade to obtain a player with a commensurate salary. So the Knicks could potentially take back a player making as much as $5.9 million in a trade (worth noting: you can’t combine trade exceptions). This type of transaction, though, would take away nearly $6 million from their 2015 cap space.

He wasn't really an NBA prospect until he was a man among boys (aka a senior or super senior, can't remember which). He's not really a good shooter, just okay. Just an okay handle. Just an okay defender (though he has good potential there). He's basically just okay or above average at everything in terms of NBA talent. Isn't really great at any one thing.

Man KTaps had 4 assist in this game. Im thinking people saying he's a non passer & low IQ might be wrong. Kid looks impressive, very unique combination of height, mobility, length and shooting ability.

Can't wait to see Taps in the summer league.

Side note that shouldn't be ignored - let's all raise a glass to the fact that at 12:01 ET the Bargnani era was officially over in NY.

Hopefully our era of bigs who can't rebound or defend is over for good.

Seems like that was just a BS story from a few months ago. The only rumor I've seen is that Phil might re-sign Jason Smith but I don't think Bargs will be brought back.
