    True.
But he agreed to meet with us. He didn't meet with any other teams besides us and Houston who he ended up re-signing with.

Call it a feeler, interest or leverage. Either way, he'd contribute more than the guys I mentioned.

      Totally forgot about this.

But that's the thing. I don't think Phil was selling that to any of the free agent targets.

Signing Thomas for more than the vet min was just stupid. You don't "reward" guys like him.

          My last on this subject.

@NYPost_Berman: Sweet Lou Amundson, who has played for 10 teams, says earliest he's signed. Almost every year comes down to September. Thrilled.

I've been watching the summer league. Figured 5 bucks was a decent price to watch our prospects play on any device. Runs smooth too, no complaints.

Grant is legit. Guy is quick, pushes the tempo and always keeps his head up looking for the play to develop & often makes the right pass. Can shoot off the dribble and finishes well with contact. Good defense too. I don't see how Russel is better. Now I know this is only summer league, but most of these guys play way harder. They are playing to survive and they give them 10 fouls. Although the talent level is way lower it's still a good test.
To me Calderon was trash last year. Slow, not a slasher & his shot wasn't falling. I'd start Grant right away.

Lol. Im hoping he's turned the corner & we helped him blossom.

Why is everyone soo down on Derrick Williams? From what i see the guys a good athlete, is it consistency?

He's a fine athlete. Just isn't a good player and his biggest weakness is his inability to think the game, so he's a rough fit in the triangle.

I think it was a fine buy low signing but I highly doubt he pans out.

I'm a Derrick Williams fan, mainly because I was high on him in the 2011 draft and I don't like the taste of crow.

He's played with a couple dysfunctional organizations (5 different coaches) and out of position quite a bit in his early career, and I'm honestly not sure if he can guard anybody. Too slow for 3s and may not be big enough for 4s. Can finish at the basket but seems to drift too much to the 3 point line. However, I think he might be alright in the triangle operating out of the high post or on the baseline. If he basically plays in the same areas Quincy Acy did on offense, he should be fine. He also shoots a high percentage on corner 3s. A structured offense and defined role might be good for him.

                    Oh.

So we have enough loot to throw around to two journeymen who are simply two extra bodies in practice and film sessions.

But we nickel and dime Ndour who at times looked like the best player on the floor in the SL and lose him to the Mavs who offered more guaranteed money??

You don't know how pissed I am right now.

I like some of the things Phil has done. But he is incredibly stubborn and stuck in his ways. He proudly breaks open the checkbook for those two walk-ons and proclaims how Melo's discount made it happen.

But a young kid who showed potential gets skimped on, for what?

Knicks forever gonna be the Knicks. Joke of an organization.

Yeah I have no idea how this happens. He was almost literally right under their noses, maybe they saw something we didn't, but I'm guessing not because they offered him the deal and were just outbid. So I have to assume they outsmarted themselves, just figuring no one else would bother. I'm upset because it doesn't really make any sense, and also because we gave Derrick Williams 5 million dollars.

But I think joke of an organization is a little extreme for not signing a dude out of Summer League.

Th joke is paying 2 guys who should've been at best training camp invites more than the vets minimum but bypassing a young player for what amounts to hundreds of thousands of dollars in guaranteed money.

Yeah man I wouldn't sweat not signing a summer league stand out. There's other cats out there.

One thing I feel like we really need is more scoring. I'm not sure who's going to consistently be able to put the ball in the hole besides Melo.

                              3-year contract?

Only the 1st year and half of the 2nd year is guaranteed.

Dallas is desperate? They have enough pieces right now to fight for the 8th seed. We don't.

Skimping over money but we just paid 2 guys who won't develop nor be here next year. Why not give it to someone who can develop.

Ndour consistently looked better than most of the drafted players who he was on the floor with. I'd much rather take a non-guaranteed flier on a young kid like that than spend on journeymen who will add nothing to the team.

I bet money before the season's out, we end up having to call up one of these scrubs from the D-League team to fill the roster out.

Heck, we're trying to decide between D-Leaguers right now: Ledo, Thanasis, Wear.

What is the game plan for the Knicks? Does anyone know?

If things don’t work out with Dallas in training camp, power forward Maurice Ndour, who resides in New York and played with the Knicks in the summer league, would love to return.
Even after the undrafted Ndour agreed to terms with Dallas, the Knicks called Ndour’s camp to see if there was something that still could be worked out. Ndour, however, would not break his verbal agreement with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, according to a source.
Dallas offered the undrafted Ohio University forward a fully guaranteed deal for more than the $600,000 rookie free-agent minimum, with a second year partially guaranteed. It blew the Knicks’ offer out of the water. They offered Ndour less than a $200,000 guarantee and wouldn’t budge until it was too late.
Jackson’s top advisor, Clarence Gaines Jr., is said to be disappointed as he championed Ndour’s signing to the summer league team.
