Since nothing seems to be happening seems like the only explanation is he's waiting on Walton, and when Walton decides to go to LA or stay in Golden State he'll go with Rambis.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

It will definitely be Rambis. He isn't even really talking to other candidates. I also doubt that he would be having him help out in the off season school of triangle philosophies if he wasn't going to come back

I genuinely think we're going to end up with Blatt."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

This is the most telling part of the article, and with that tidbit alone, Herring gives us more information than Isola or Berman ever will in this coaching search.
But yes you're right, it was a short article but it actually had some relevant info.
I do think Phil is open to not running the triangle so long as the coach is running a system built on sharing and movement. He is more about the culture of team, in my opinion.
I don't think he considers other coaches outside of his circle because he doesn't believe they preach that philosophy. But Blatt does, in his own way.
My concern is what Phil really wants. Does he want to coach via extension or have a coach that follows his philosophy?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Tommy Dee thinks Phil wants Blatt, don't think he's very reliable though:

Re: The 2016 New York Knicks: Now that we're done tanking...
If I don't hear at least one rumor of a Vogel-Blatt pairing to coach the Knicks, I will lose it as a Knicks fan.
Either have Vogel head coach and Blatt handle the offensive duties or Blatt head coach and Vogel handle defense.
I'm not saying it's realistic. I'm not saying it absolutely has to happen.
I'm saying someone next to Phil Jackson should at least suggest it. And some writer better at least lie that Jackson is interviewing both men to do just that."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I'm at the point where I'm wondering, since Vogel's issue is offense and Phil is so insistent on the triangle, to hire Vogel to run things and let ohdeargodwhy Rambis run the offense. Any chance Phil would let that happen?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I only wonder if Vogel would."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. What coaching search?
It's nice to know Phil is on vacation while the franchise has fallen back to laughingstock status.Comment

Yep, he's on vacation because he's already made up his mind to go with Rambis. I'm sure it's a done deal behind the scenes at this point."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
