If he's gonna stick to this "system", might as well hire Blatt.

The problem with Phil is that he wants to play Prez but also pull the strings on rotations and minutes.

Rambis pretty much said so and Phil's comment on Grant was confirmation.

If it's Shaw, Rambis or Walton then line us up for a Top 5 pick again in 2017.

Wouldn't be the worst thing to be in the top of the lottery next year, we need more major pieces and we're only going to get them via the draft. Porzingis obviously needs a few more years - I believe most guys really blow up or enter their prime around 24 y/o.

Can't wait to find out that Scott Layden turned into a genius after working in San Antonio and to see him and Thibs turn Minnesota into a dynasty. It's going to be great.

Draft picks without the proper coaching and maximizing their skills ends up being worthless. You see it everywhere around the league.

We could get the #1 pick and pass up the consensus #1 player because he doesn't fit into the triangle.

          And that is the problem.

I'm at the point of just hiring Blatt. He has great experience with foreign players and runs a good system. Plus LeBron would probably be in Melo's ear talking about how bad Blatt is which would spur Melo to waive his NTC.

I don't think Blatt would be a bad hire at all. Guy got the rawest of raw deals in Cleveland.

Will he be comfortable with Phil coaching over his shoulder?

Berman's article today suggests he would be, but he's also a complete clown.

If Blatt was alright with LeBron coaching over, under and around his shoulder then I think he'll be okay with our weird situation.

I think Blatt just wants to coach and will handle the drama.

He handled the media circus that is Cleveland and when you look back on it, from a non coaching perspective, he did a great job with the media and management. I think he could come in and handle New York. The guy was the coach of the most successful Israeli team so I'm sure he's seen a lot of pressure.

I wouldn't mind him as coach. I think he had to deal with a player that had more power and say and it took away from his ability to make changes. That's easier to stomach if it's Phil and it's clear the Knicks don't give a crap what Melo thinks or wants.

Maybe I'm just being cynical but I think Rambis stays.

Thibs has all the final say, so he still wouldn't get the credit

Reading a Berman article about Rambis's tenure with the Wolves, it basically boils down to (aside from having a **** team obviously) his obsession with the triangle blowing up in his face...well at least we have a coach that learns from his mistakes. A specific example being one where the team gave up 120 points and Rambis insisted on working on the triangle some more.

I don't even care if the triangle is our main system (which it clearly seems it will be), but we've got to get a coach that in a situation where the offense flat out doesn't work, has a backup plan. It seems Rambis is a one trick pony, and we can't even confirm whether or not he's any good with the one trick.

Just get this guy away from the team please. I never want to be envious of the Nets, but I fear what we have in Phil, as opposed to a Sean Marks or someone of his ilk, is someone more concerned with winning with the triangle than just winning.

I can't believe Atkinson was once a Knicks assistant. He's going to be another one that Knicks management undervalues.

If not for Van Gundy getting his start with the last ownership regime, we wouldn't even know how good he was as Knicks coach.

Lakers are interviewing Spurs assistant and former Euro coach Ettore Messina, I heard a lot about him being a great coach but I can't say much for myself. Great pedigree though, and you can't go wrong picking from the Pop tree, interested to see if Phil brings him in for an interview at least.

From everything I've read and heard, Rambis is Phil's choice.
