Re: The Official Portland Trailblazers Thread
I have been a fan for more than 10 years...I am going to say this is the most talented players I have seen on the Blazers since 2000.
Look at my sig...Oden got triple and double teamed the WHOLE time he was in the game. Oden is better than everyone thinks offensively...Very strong. Rudy is amazing he truly is an immediate impact this year. Aldridge kept a low profile...Doesnt bother me...Roy is still injured should be fine.
I give this game an A-
Bring on the Lakers!
Pre-season game #2 is on tomorrow same time. Be ready for another blowout.Comment

Re: The Official Portland Trailblazers Thread
- In terms of Oden getting doubled and tripled all night, I saw bits and pieces of the game and that wasnt the case when I saw it. Maybe I didnt see enough of the action but tonight was basically dunks and more dunks with very little offensive game from Oden, he missed little jump hooks and close shots but I will give him credit for the hustle that got him some of those points on putbacks.
- I think you should calm down ProjectRipCity, this constant bashing of utexas because he wants to support the team is so ridiculous. Wouldnt you rather have more fans then none at all? If you think its bad now, assuming your predictions for the season are right, then wait until the National Media starts jumping on their bandwagon only to jump off at the first injury to occur or losing streak to happen. You go around acting like you are above him because you cheered for the Blazers for 10+ years, good luck with that. If it makes you feel any better, I can guarantee that at no point will I ever cheer for the Blazers no matter how good they do.
- I think its funny that everyone is loving on Rudy right now, from everything people are posting he sounds like a slightly more complete version of Jason Williams (White Chocolate) back when he was in Sacramento and was allowed to make those risky, and 1 type passes. It might look good but I would venture a guess that Nate wont let that fly in a regular season game, he didnt like Sergio doing it last season and he isnt going to like Rudy doing it this season either.
For the Blazers' fan sake I hope the team pans out somewhat since if they dont we might have mass suicides here in Oregon from the fans who are already saving up money for the playoff tickets this season, and before anyone takes offense, Im not talking about anyone here in particular.Comment

Re: The Official Portland Trailblazers Thread
I understand Blazer fans do take it out of porportion. But you got to remember that we have been blessed in a unique way. We we the bottom feeders of the league 2-3 years ago, but now Kevin Pritchard has given us instant life. It all started with Roy and Aldridge...Everyone was like "Yeah they are both gonna be great" after they're rookie seasons (Particulary Roy). Then the same off-season we get the #1 pick got Oden and we got Rudy from PHX for basically 10 dollars (We didnt know what we got at the time). Then the terrible news hit that Oden was going to be out for the entire season...Our team went through one of the most remarkable surprises in Blazer history 41-41...We were bound to be a 28-54 team Roy went to the All-Star game he was considered a god basically to Blazer mania.
This off-season we picked up Bayless (Who was scheduled to go #4) for virtually nothing. And Blazer fans also had the oppurtunity to see Rudy play in the olympics...Which was a real treat. Then Oden coming this season along with Rudy Bayless with another year of experienced players...Brought us high expectations.
Just to let you know Blazer fans do outdo things, but it's out of emotion of how much adversity this organization has been through the last few years...Blazer fans are truly emotional about our team and players. Saying that I do think we have intellegent fans...It's just hard to keep you're composure.Comment

Re: The Official Portland Trailblazers Thread
Yep, very true about the Blazers being massively scrutinized by the media. I've lived in other cities where teams are a media circus, but the way the Blazers are covered is really over the top.
They definitely looked good tonight, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, it was an easy game for the players to get up for, first action in a long time, Oden, fans, a lot of hype. At the same time it was just as easy for Sacramento to sleep through a pre-season game on the road.
Also, this was the starting lineup that Sacramento put out there tonight:
John Salmons
Beno Udrih
Mikki Moore
Fransisco Garcia
Spencer Hawes
I just read Jason Quick's article on the game, looks like he has really jumped on the Blazers' nuts after this pre-season game as well. I understand that the state of Oregon needs so badly for the Blazers to succeed but like Chef alluded to, watch the headlines for mass suicides in Oregon come April if things don't pan out.
No question though, Portland will not be an easy game for anyone.Last edited by bad_philanthropy; 10-08-2008, 03:19 AM.Comment

Re: The Official Portland Trailblazers Thread
I have no doubts Portland will do well and probably sneak into the playoffs as the 6th or 7th seed but they are young and I think it will take a year or two to find their identity. I just dont understand why a guy cant like a team that he may not have liked before, normally people arent labeled as "bandwagon" fans until that team actually wins something, for instance, if I said I was a huge Giants fan after their Super Bowl victory last year even though I was a huge Niners fan all the time leading up to that, then Im a bandwagon fan but not picking a team before the season even starts in a loaded conference nonetheless.
I just hope the city doesnt freak out if the Blazers dont meet the lofty expectations that they have for them because this city can turn on the Blazers at the drop of the hat. The best thing to happen to the Blazers would have been to get the Nationals a couple years ago when they were in the running for Portland, if that had happened then some of the constant scrutiny of the Blazers would have been more evenly distributed between them and the Nationals. Ive lived here for 26 of my 27 years and its just a weird city when it comes to sports but you learn to take the good with the bad and move on I guess.Comment

Re: The Official Portland Trailblazers Thread
Blazers fans. A question that will decide the future for a LOT of sports fans in the state of Washington. With the Sonics no longer existing and NBA fans in the northwest looking for that new favorite team, are we (former Sonics fans) welcome on board with the Trailblazers. I realize that the I-5 rivalry will always exist between Portland and Seattle but you are the only Northwest team remaining. We're weeks away from a new season and Sonics fans are searching for that new team to follow. So Portland Trailblazer fans, are we welcome onboard?Comment

^^^ Yes...With arms wide open. What happend to you was terrible.
Welcome aboard
EDIT: A lot of people I know support the Sonics...Even to the fact when the Thunder comes to town we may boo them. (Nobody boos in the Rose Garden) The Sonic Rival was really fun.Last edited by ProjectRipCity; 10-08-2008, 04:38 AM.Comment
