Blazers fans. A question that will decide the future for a LOT of sports fans in the state of Washington. With the Sonics no longer existing and NBA fans in the northwest looking for that new favorite team, are we (former Sonics fans) welcome on board with the Trailblazers. I realize that the I-5 rivalry will always exist between Portland and Seattle but you are the only Northwest team remaining. We're weeks away from a new season and Sonics fans are searching for that new team to follow. So Portland Trailblazer fans, are we welcome onboard?

With the Sonics gone Paul Allen's pro sports clubs can rule the northwest scene in the fall, winter, and spring. For years the Seahawks have been heavily supported in Oregon, so Oregon can share its basketball team in return. Can you feel the love?

Wow Greg Oden looked solid in his 1st preseason game. Oden definitely bulked up a lot he looks like a beast out there, im hoping he will have a solid rookie year.

- I think you should calm down ProjectRipCity, this constant bashing of utexas because he wants to support the team is so ridiculous. Wouldnt you rather have more fans then none at all?

I have no doubts Portland will do well and probably sneak into the playoffs as the 6th or 7th seed but they are young and I think it will take a year or two to find their identity. I just dont understand why a guy cant like a team that he may not have liked before, normally people arent labeled as "bandwagon" fans until that team actually wins something, for instance, if I said I was a huge Giants fan after their Super Bowl victory last year even though I was a huge Niners fan all the time leading up to that, then Im a bandwagon fan but not picking a team before the season even starts in a loaded conference nonetheless.

1. Eventually this team will win...That is not the question. I think it's actually worse to bandwagon prior of teams success to enjoy the good times before hand.

Chef, appreciate the love bruh, I think what Project Rip City doesn't get is that I am a full grown man ( a wife, 3 kids, and one due anyday now!!!) who will root whatever team he wants to. He can come at me and call me internet names, but OS has a very good ignore button if he continues to do a one man crusade against me.

Also its not guaranteed that Portland will be good or take that next step. From the game last night its obvious that they are still very young and will need time. As a former Mavs fan, I can tell you first hand nothing is guaranteed in the west conference.

Hopefully this is the last time I have to defend my choice of fandom.

The difference between you and utexas is significant. You LOST your team and he LEFT his team. I know if Blazers left...I would still support our players...But I would of switched my alliance with the Sonics.

Arent you taking this hate for utexas a bit far? He explained why he left Dallas, he got tired of the Mark Cuban show and Cubans inability to be the owner and not the friend/fan. You might have a point if Dallas was going into the tank and was going to be terrible and now he suddenly wanted to support the Blazers, but thats not the case at all. What are you going to say if the team he left, Dallas, finishes with a better record then the Blazers in the first place? Surely nobody would become a bandwagon fan to support a team with a worse record then the team they previously supported would they? As a Blazers fan I would expect that you wouldnt have a single problem with anyone supporting your team, if it isnt for the support this team wont get on any national television games and wont get nearly the publicity it gets, chill out already.

Give it a rest, integrity? Somehow he lacks integrity because he wants to support Portland now? You need a reality check and quickly because half the stuff you are saying is completely ridiculous. The principal of bandwagoning? Maybe you should focus more of your time and attention on the fact that the team hasnt even accomplished anything yet, other then beating the Kings backups in a preseason game, . Once you commit to something you stick with it? What the hell are you talking about? Are you talking about utexas or the Blazers? I cant believe that you are still sitting here taking offense to someone wanting to be a fan, like you are some gatekeeper for the Blazers and everyone has to get approval before they can cheer for the team.

I did let it be done until you, yet again, took another swipe at him when you were telling that former Sonics fan how he was was welcomed and how his situation was so different then utexas. If you want it to die then stop talking about how you dont approve, or how you dont agree or how you dont think its right and then nobody will have anything to reply to in the first place. I would think you would be more concerned with the fact that Oden hasnt played a full season healthy since high school then you would be about whether or not you think utexas should be allowed to cheer for the Blazers. When he asked for approval, do you really think he was going to not cheer for them if he didnt get approval from anyone? Its probably more of a tongue in cheek question, or rhetorical in nature I would think.

Well, enough has been said, we can move on. This thread is about the Portland Trailblazers. Nobody here to my knowledge has any ownership stake in the franchise, we are all fas looking for a few moments distraction that sports provides from the everyday grind. Lets get it back to the Blazers.
