Re: The Official Portland Trailblazers Thread

Blazers will be fine...Opening jitters against argueably the best team in the league on opening night. I could of predicted it, but Roy and Lamarcus played terrible...So it gave us no chance. Nate did not prepare his team mentally for this game...

As far as Oden goes...His injury was a freak accident. It's not like he landed on his own...He just landed on Fishers feet. Thankfully hes only out a couple of weeks...But cannot depend on him to be the "savior" if you will of this franchise. Roy and Lamarcus need to be leaders out there...And when Greg comes back...He needs to act like a role player.

Im expecting to beat the Spurs come halloween night.

Re: The Official Portland Trailblazers Thread

I feel like I have to point it out since its being repeated by so many, Greg Oden did NOT step on Fishers feet at all, go back and look at the replay, he came down and his foot gave out, thats it. Fisher himself said Oden never landed on his foot, looking at the replay you can clearly see that Oden didnt land on his foot but apparently Oden and McMillan are the ones who think he did. Portland might beat the Spurs since its the home opener and they are without Manu but even still, if Portland wins its going to be by a small margin I would think.

Lastly, I dont get the Blazers fan base at all. When you guys got the #1 pick and were ready to take Oden he was the savior, when the team took him he was the savior, when he was healthy to play this season he was the savior and now that hes hurt hes suddenly a role player and not the savior, I dont get it. Fans were saying this team was going to contend for the Western Conference Title because they were getting Oden back, how does that not sound like the savior? This team, even with a healthy Oden, is at best a 6-8 seed in the West and is 1-2 years away from serious contention for the title. Maybe they make huge strides quickly once Oden can get in the lineup and stay healthy, which he hasnt proven he can do since high school, but normally it takes time and it will take plenty of time for this team.

The savior of this franchise is Brandon Roy. Most of the fans who say Oden is the "savior" are young or bandwagoners.
I am just glad he is only injured for a short amount of time, because now he has the ability to calm the f down for a second. He played tight in the game and that will always result to injuries especially being a big guy like him. Oden will be fine...He is just having terrible luck like most young centers do. There is a history of injuries of young star centers and they end up turning great. Im not saying that Oden will be great...Im just saying let the guy breathe...I feel bad for the guy because us fans and critics have put so much pressure on the guy. If he relaxes he will be fine and he will end up playing 50+ games this year. That's my goal atleast. Any production out of Greg Oden will be good enough for me...The guy needs minutes to adjust to the NBA.

I hope Oden is fine but the pressure is there because of the hype, hes getting paid handsomely for it so I dont feel bad for the guy at all. Oden didnt help himself when he was trying to bulk up before he had even recovered from his knee surgery, I know he got bored but adding weight to a fragile knee is not a good recipe for success. I dont think anyone is a savior for a team unless its someone like Jordan, Kobe or Lebron, Roy is a nice player but hes going to need pieces around him to make much noise. Hopefully Oden comes back and can turn this around because if he comes back and somehow gets hurt again, rolled ankle, broken finger etc, then people are really going to start comparing him to Sam Bowie or Bill Walton and the injury problems they had.

Great win tonight for the Blazers. Oden or not, we are still a dangerous team.

Look, Im not trying to be an ******* but Portland beat the Spurs tonight by 1 point and they didnt even have Manu. Portland will be dangerous with Oden in the middle for defense but Roy isnt going to score nearly 30 a night and if he doesnt score that tonight then they lose that game. I know, Im the negative one because Im not a Blazers fan but winning by one over a team missing one of their best players isnt exactly something to get excited over imo.

1-2 going for 2-2 tonight. If we win...WOW...2-2 is pretty good for the schedule we have had.

I'm most definitely not holding my breath tonight in a game against the Jazz. Their is a reason they are 3-0 and they play REALLY well at their place.

Roy is going to have to take the Bull by the horn so to speak. But once we get by houston tonight, Aldridge is killing, love to see my Longhorns and a hometown kid doing well, but Barkley was right at halftime, Roy is a great player who is playing to unselfishly.
