          No, no, just kidding.

So who wins the final roster spot for the Blazers this year? I know that Luke Jackson is hanging on and being a Pac 10 basketball fan I find myself cheering for him. BUT, honestly, who gets that final spot?

WOW. Talk about your poor shooting nights. One of those nights NOT to remember for Travis Outlaw (1-12 from the field). I'm still sort of on the fence with Rudy Fernandez. I feel like he's still a little in awe of being in the NBA (which should be the case considering he's 2 games in). His 3 point shooting is spot on. Moving from the international to NBA line hasn't made him skip a beat shooting the deep ball. BUT, he's loving the crowd response from getting fancy with his passes. He did have 7 assists but 6 turnovers to go along with that. Of course the team as a whole had 26 turnovers. I guess this is the kind of game you want in the preseason so you can get the film and learn from it.

Thats the problem and if he doesnt learn to reel that in then he will struggle to get PT unless his shooting is just completely lights out, Im talking Dell Curry lights out. Sergio has this problem and it cost him playing time last year, White Chocolate had this problem and it cost him playing time in Sacramento before going to Miami where he has somewhat reeled it in finally. Its one thing to be flashy and throw no look passes but its another to take a everyday bounce pass and turn it into a behind the back, no look pass that has a high percentage for failure. However, with all the being said, Rudy strikes me as the type of person that would do whatever the coach asks unlikes some other players with similar problems in the past so I wouldnt worry too much as of right now.

Agreed. The nice thing is, if McMillan can take some of the flash/degree of difficulty from some of those passes Rudy has shown so far that he has GREAT court vision. He knows where his teamates are and where they will be. Let's just hope you're right Chef, I hope he's willing to be coached.

Once the game is on line I think Rudy won't get into all of that but he does seem to have a tendency to do high risk things now and again.

Rudys risk taking doesnt bother me too much. Look at Nash...He is one of the leaders in turnovers.

                      Injuries...

Webster out 8-10 weeks from a stress fracture
Frye out for 4-5 weeks with bone spurs
Rudy out with a spain is day to day
Joel out with sprain is day to day

All important...But 2 of those players will not be suiting up for the first game.

I wouldn't be surprised if we started 0-5, neither would I be too disappointed. With our first five games against veteran playoff teams before we get a "break" against Minnesota. What an early season test. Would any of you be hurt by an 0-5 start? What do you think we could reasonably expect for the first 5?

Without Webster and Frye and the first five games being:
                          @ Lakers
                          vs San Antonio
                          @ Phoenix
                          @ Utah
                          vs Houston
I think that 0-5 is a very reasonable start. But I think that they'll steal one of the first five and start the season 1-4. Not good at all but I think that they can rebound from that pretty easily.

Hopefully they settle down Friday and shoot the ball better. Felt like their was NO presence down low for the Blazers. Frye and Aldridge kept popping out about and taking 17 foot jumpers! Stay down low to open it up outside.
