I agree. I watch both mma and boxing. I am huge on hand to hand combat. The bellator cards I would miss but the price hike is too much for me just watching a service once or twice a month. I am paying for too many streaming services as it is lol

People are praising Usyk performance last night; I don't! Chazz Witherspoon wasn't training for a fight. Usyk to have had such a great cruiserweight resume didn't beat Chazz convincely to me want a tititle shot next. He threw no bodyshots & Usyk isn't short so technically he should have ended it earlier.
      Usyk is a 6'3 southpaw
      Chazz Witherspoon 6'4
*Roy Jones fight at heavyweight was a great performance and it was against a title holder John Ruiz. #boxing.

Interestingly enough Jones' decline started after that fight.

A little hard on Usyk. He just recovered from a torn bicep and although he didn't look great he stopped the guy.

I don't see how he's going to handle the bigger guys though. He'd have more than his hands full with a better Ruiz (Andy) and how is he going to stop those long powerful Wilder punches? It still adds some more flavor to a very interesting heavyweight division.

Roy decline started after he weight drained himself to go back down to super middle-weight/Light Heavyweight.

I agree; Usyk could make the heavyweight division more interesting.

I don't know. Roy weighed in at 193 for the Ruiz fight. Given even elite boxer's tendency to gain weight between fights (Duran) was an in-shape 193 pounds something he couldn't come back from? The closest he came to fighting at super middleweight (post-Ruiz) was a 170 catch-weight fight with Trinidad five years after Ruiz. Maybe it had something to with muscle development during his training for the heavyweight fight. I really don't know.

I can see Wilder and Fury chomping at the bit for a big money fight with Usyk because they are so much bigger but it's still interesting.

Usyk is FAR more skilled than Wilder. So, you bet, that fight would be interesting.

Hope the fight happens sooner than later, but Wilder has Ortiz 2/Ortiz 3 or Ortiz/Fury before he fights anyone else. Fury would be free if Wilder loses to Ortiz. Would the Usyk team rush him into those fights?

A GREAT light-heavyweight bout between Artur Beterbiev and Oleksandr Gvozdyk for each other's belts Friday night on regular ESPN. Although a slight underdog I'd pick Beterbiev by mid-round KO.

my thoughts exactly - I was happy to hear all the 'forget the zero losses' talk - it's about time. I'd even be happy if they did it again - Ukrane had some really good spots and moments. That fight was close to me.

I will say as a side note - boxing is getting more and more popularity again, but that crowd # was weak! there are more peopel at the events I cover with lesser fighters. Kinda weird to see - they tried to cover it up a little bit but there was like 1500 people there tops

Through nine rounds Gvozdyk was up on two cards (87-84, 86-85) and down on one (83-87).

I would be closer to 87-83 Beterbiev partly on the strength of what I thought was a 10-8 ninth round in his favor. **

After being battered in the ninth Gvozdyk told Atlas he didn't want to continue but Teddy would have none of that.

This I know-Gvozdyk has one heck of a chin.He had nothing left due to those gut-busting body shots.

EDIT: The judge who had it 87-83 Beterbiev was the only one who scored the ninth round 10-8.**

Considering what's taken place over the past year, I don't think this is right.
What if this guy suffered a brain haemorrhage?
If he did, I would hold Teddy 100% accountable.

He sent him out there for the 10th where he got blasted 3 times.

Teddy should be investigated for forcing a clearly hurt fighter back into the furnace.

It's part of the macho culture in boxing. Given the minuscule chance of Gvozdyk winning after his ninth round pummeling Teddy should have immediately asked him, "how are you feeling" and then acquiesced to his fighter's desire. But Teddy is full of himself and his ego prompted him to give the old, "you're a champion" speech.

Gvozdyk already proved his heart by going ten rounds with a guy nobody wants to fight. And when Teddy threw him out into the lion's den in the tenth he was still throwing right hand leads in an attempt to hurt the granite chinned Beterbiez.

Max Kellerman drew this author's ire for pointedly referencing Gvozdyk as having "quit in his corner".

Despite being a solid favorite if Canelo loses this fight will he get a pass because he went up to 175 or will this damage his career significantly?
