I didn't realize that Buddy McGirt was the trainer of the Russian fighter that died of brain injuries recently. No wonder he was quick to warn Kovalev that he would stop it if he took more punishment.

I guess Canelo isn't yellow. I didn't know that he will square off against Kovalez on November 2. Andre Ward criticized the buddy-buddy selfie that was taken by the two after the bout was made.

      Intriguing fight.

Entertaining bout last night between Quillin and Angulo. I think they got the decision right. Angulo deserved the win, he had Quillin hurt several times. This fight is a perfect example that the punch stats don't always tell the entire story

I just don't trust that this fight is on the up and up.
Not that there's a fix in, but that the Canelo camp knows something we don't.
To jump up two weight classes to fight the LHW champ is a huge undertaking.
Krusher has a tremendous jab as well. If he's smart, he just sticks in his face all night long and keeps him at arms length.
If Krusher isn't damaged goods, and there isn't a secret weight restriction in place, I honestly don't get how Vegas has Alvarez as a 4:1 favourite.
This fight doesn't pass the smell test.

I have no idea why Canelo would start as a 4-1 favorite. It's not like he steamrolled Jacobs or KOed GGG.

I think ultimately Canelo thinks this will be easier than GGG, they see the body work and the strategy by Andre Ward and think they can make him gas early and take him out.

The Krusher has faded too, like he's just not the same and maybe his heart isn't in it 100% but it's a huge payday most likely so he'll just ride it out into the sunset.

(I would love Kovalev to kick his butt though, but I can't see it)

A few months ago I thought differently, but the closer the fight gets, the safer it seems for Canelo for some reason. As you guys said, they know something we don't.

For Kovalez it was probably a combination of the start of the fade and simply going up in class. How bad a performance did you have when you "probably" beat Andre Ward the first time around? Well if you consider the lead and momentum he had at mid-fight he might have needed about a 70% effort to have sealed the decision but he couldn't quite reach the number. Yeah he's fading but he has shown a certain measure of heart and better stamina in his last two fights both under McGirt.

Canelo has passed the chin test going TOTALLY UNHURT in two fights with GGG. Krusher is a big puncher with a powerful left jab but falls short of George Foreman/Thomas Hearns' proportionate power. I think Alvarez figures he can take Kovalez's best long range shots, get inside and then batter to the body...pretty much what you're saying...

But along the lines of what Money99 said I wonder if this is a ramped up exhibition bout?

Porter did ALOT better than I thought he would. He gave Spence all he could handle. Definitely a FOY candidate

I didn't see the fight but was surprised Spence had that difficult of a time although two judges gave him a comfortable margin (116-111). Amazingly the guy that scored it for Porter gave him eight of the first ten rounds.

Benavidez has well positioned himself as a future opponent for Canelo. I'm not sure GGG has any intention of moving up in weight at least not in the near future.

On his Friday boxing show, Max On Boxing, Kellerman answered a fan's Twitter question by stating that he thought Andre Ward could beat Canelo and that he would come out of retirement to take that fight.

Sounds like I missed a good one from what I am hearing. Hopefully at some point they will replay it. That's one thing that I miss with hbo not having boxing. After their ppvs they would always replay it the following week. Unless I am wrong and I unaware of where they replay the fight the following week.

I enjoyed last night card and Spence vs. Porter fight. Porter was doing his rough you up tactics and mauling Spence but wasn't throwing effective shots. I tried to keep Spence from setting him up by being overly aggressive. This cause Spence to tag him with a few low blows early in the fight.
Styles make fights and Porter give everyone a hard time. Put it this way; he beat Usyk in the amatuers.....look it up.

The fight was a pleasant suprise for me. I had spence winning by 2 points simply because of his body work that may have been overlooked because of Porters style..I think Spence made it alot harder on himself by fighting Porters fight but he showed some excellent heart and grit..This fight reminded me of the first Leonard vs. Duran fight where Leonard was determined to beat Duran at his own game brawling and infighting...Spence could have easily jabbed and countered all night but he chose to rumble..My only 2 concerns with Spence are that he gets hit way too much to be a skilled fighter..Porter threw some wild street style shots that landed and I have seen spence get increasingly lax in his defense...My other concern is that he lacks discipline in between fights and blows up only to spend the whole camp concerned about losing weight..Every time he does this as he gets older it strips more muscle from his frame and eventually will hamper his punch output..In a rematch Spence wins easily and he wont make the same mistakes.. It's about time to get this Crawford fight going he will eat up Garcia.. Overall it was a good card..

I remember before that fight there were rumblings about how Leonard wanted Pipino Cuevas for less than half of Duran fight money ($3 million). I don't think he was mentally prepared to face Hands Of Stone and Duran's will dictated the fight. Great heart and chin on Ray's part but he clearly lost probably more than the cards showed. I thought the judges may have given a DRAW verdict to some rounds Duran won-19 ROUNDS were scored a draw out of 45 (15 X 3). Of course the rematch had Sugar turning the tables and was a great fight until "No Mas" was uttered.
