Love the broadcast tv gems. Like we have previously talked about with Thurman Porter. Need more of them

I agree to an extent, but his point still stands that it's a real treat.

For me the Hopkins Calzaghe fight was a bit of a let down, but knew that going in. At that point in Hopkins career, he was getting very boring and too defensive and grab grab grab. He was only exciting and surprising vs Pavlik because Kelly's style was ripe for him to capitalize.

Calazaghe had the off balance knockdown, but then just threw volume all fight and got the (deserved) W, but for me it was quite a forgettable tilt. Also it was a split decision and hopkins said his ' I did enough to win ' routine. Calzaghe was great in his prime at the end of his career, but I wish he stepped up sooner and took on more great fighters. It wasn't until he completely dismantled Jeff Lacy that he took off internationally and here in NA, and after that it was Roy Jones, Hopkins . But also much respect because to me his biggest achievement in his career was beating Mikkel Kessler - a younger very powerful puncher among the best in the world.

agreed....he beat hopkins and jones past their prime, but beat them none the less. hopkins defense was a bit off in that fight, if i remember correctly.

            Re: Boxing Off-Topic

From my personal experience it was a much more compelling fight, both the buildup and the bout itself. It was a matchup of clearly the top two light-heavyweights in the world, who could knock you out with a single shot. Despite no knockdowns Braxton was bull rushing Spinks all night connecting some but many, many times eating a very effective jab, that set up some good power shots from Michael. Excellent fight.

I didn't consider Hopkins-Calzaghe a true 175 pound fight, despite the weight they fought at. No title was on the line (Spinks-Braxton was a WBA-WBC unification bout) and both fighters gained fame at lesser weights. It was a decent fight considering Hopkin's holding and Calzage's slapping punches...almost like he was throwing open handed.

Looks like Golovkin-Jacobs is next. Possibly Dec 10th and will be on HBO.
              Really interested in this fight.

pretty much everyone here would probably agree with this, even though it's steven a smith - but I've always liked Kellerman.

they have been pushed to early 2017 though, not canned outright. It looks like Dan Rafael is a ***** - there is this weird push-back against pbc like it's the enemy or something. I like one of the comments in the article where the guy confronts others and basically says:

"and all the people who oddly rooted against pbc will now get one card a month on hbo or showtime wopdee doo celebrate!"

                      that made me smile haha.

you're right, this was a much better fight.....true light heavyweights. in their prime. for both titles.

at least triple g is taking on a worthy challenger.....on regular hbo, no less. if it was canelo, it would be ppv for sure. however, his fight with smith got barely 300,000 buys. let's be honest, it should have been on regular hbo. you can't get buys on ppv against a nobody just because he is undefeated. even the floyd-berto fight got close to 500,000 buys. truth is, we won't buy until it's triple g. (at least for me, anyways.)
