I honestly don't even think he's cash poor. Just incredibly ignorant. He is incredibly liquid and a guy like him actually shouldn't be. He's too liquid.

Holding onto a $100M check instead of investing it and making even more money off of it plus deferring taxes shows you how ignorant he is and how terrible his accountants are.

He's like he's paid the IRS $26M and "that should be enough" in his mind. That kind of thinking shows that he has no clue how much he actually owns or owes. You can't pay the tax man how much you think is right
If that was the case, we'd all do it.

His money habits make me wonder. He hasn't been posting nearly as many betting slips and I know via his IG he opened up a new strip club in Vegas. I'm sure he has a lot of non-liquid cash in that, the cars, planes, houses. I agree tho, writing the Government a check for $22 million would give me heart palpitations even if I had the cash to do so and not really miss it.

It's also a sign that "yes men" surround Mayweather. His accountants must know his liquidity is INSANE -- the guy carries around $10,000 in $100 bills in a roll in his pocket.

But they also wouldn't dare try to correct this problem for risk of getting fired and losing a BIG, consistent source of revenue.

I don't even think Leonard Ellerbe can plant common sense in Mayweather's ear because he rides the TBE gravy train just like every other member of Floyd's coterie.

        Quite the paradox.

I can only speculate about Floyd's money problems, but am really surprised that he's holding on to a $100 million check. He is pretty free and loose with his money though and I don't know how much his entourage cuts into his cash.

UPDATE: Speaking of money Pac says Arum hasn't paid him yet and that Roach also recieves his money directly from the promoter.

Manny needs the money far worse than Floyd. His money problems are legendary, one of the worst-kept secrets in boxing.

I fear this money impasse is just the start of an ugly breakup between Manny and Freddie. Manny wants to continue fighting and probably needs to because of his financial problems, but Roach already has said he would favor that Pacquiao retire.

Roach knows the ravages of staying in the ring too long, as his Parkinson's was caused by repeated blows to the head in the ring. So he wastes no time telling a fighter when they should quit.

Yep. He spends and gambles non stop. I could easily see him struggling to cut a check for 22 million without selling assets. Keep in mind that he doesnt really have any other revenue sources coming in. The strip club just opened and his promotional company hasnt really taken off other than his fights.

Floyd Mayweather's income outside of the ring since serving time in 2012 for assault against a woman: $0.

He has zero endorsements. May that continue for the rest of his days.

Whoever is the genius behind the marketing and promotion of this boondoggle is winnning. All my FB timeline consists of is people being gassed up by CMs mic skills. They have all but forgotten that he isn't a boxer. They keep this up and casuals and gimps keep getting sucked in they could make a ton of money from that group. Fight fans know whats what, but its clear they are going after UFC bros and casual sports fans for the PPV buys.

They will get the UFC bros. I actually find Joe Rogan and some of his interviews entertaining, but stop fawning over Conor so much. I think Rogan represents the typical UFC fan's attitude toward this fight.

Artur Beterbiev cannot get a break. He was refused a visa to go from Canada to the USA (he is a Muslim, originally from Russia), so his New York fight against Enrico Koelling was canceled. On the optimistic side, Koelling was going to be nothing but target practice anyway.

Joe Smith/Sullivan Barrera on HBO Boxing After Dark this Saturday. The winner might get Kovalez in the fall. Barrera is slightly favored.

Good to hear some real boxing news. I will check it out. I think Robert guerro fights Sat too on fox sports 1. Not sure who he is fighting though
