Re: EA UFC 3: Teach Me How To Thread: Tips, Strategies, Tutorials

What's the difference between using L1 and the left joystick to lunge and R1 and the left joystick to lunge?

What are the advantages and disadvantages in using them? I feel like I get hit a lot and that I might not fully understand the evasive controls?

It feels like I'm getting hit at ranges where I can't hit the CPU. Which makes me think there is a technique it is able to do that I haven't figured out how to replicate. Especially with body kicks and body hooks. Mine miss unless I'm really close and could get hit back, the CPU feels like it's starting it's attack from across the Octagon and still able to get to me.

You can move forward with the left stick while throwing any technique. Wind up is longer but the reach also.

Difference between lunges with left or right stick is that the right stick is the normal movement, left stick uses special movement which only some fighters like Cruz or Dillashaw have.

Any tips to counter overhands? Especially overhand spammers? I find the tracking on the overhands is way too crazy. They're like lazer beams, just find your head wherever you're at. It's especially bad in UT if you're a grappler that doesn't have high standup ratings facing a striker. They just throw out these overhands that cover so much distance and no matter what I do they seem to always catch me like they're just tracking my head.

Whats the best counter or way to avoid the overhand besides just blocking? Lunge left/right, lunge backwards?

What counters do you guys find most effective to overhands and overhand spammers?

        Thanks.

lunge backward , followed by straight + lead roundhouse body kick seems to always hit , if you can make him miss with the overhand

Some simple 'mirror' combos I pulled out of the big list that share inputs whether you're in orthodox or southpaw:

            Basic:
            1-2-3 (jab-cross-lead hook)
            2-1-4 (cross-jab-back hook)

            1-2-5 (jab-cross-lead upper)
            2-1-6 (cross-jab-back upper)

            Boxing lvl 1:
            1-4-5 (Jab-back Hook-lead upper)
            2-3-6 (cross-lead hook-back upper)

            Boxing lvl 2:
            1-6-3 (jab-back upper-lead hook)
            2-5-4 (Cross-Lead Upper-Rear Hook)

            Muay Thai lvl 1:
            1-2- lead leg kick
            2-1- back leg kick

            Muay Thai lvl 2:
            1-2- lead body kick
            2-1- back body kick

            1-4-lead leg kick
            2-3-back leg kick

            1-6-lead leg kick
            2-5-back leg kick

            Kickboxing lvl 1:
            1-2-lead head kick
            2-1-back head kick

            Kickboxing lvl 2:
            1-6- lead head kick
            2-5- back head kick

Just something I made for myself and thought others might find useful. Corrections and additions welcome.

Is there an option to turn the corner advice on and off after around ??

I dont get the text of info anymore for awhile i thought i might have accidently switched it off if possible. In a close fight sometimes the insurance of knowing you won a close round helps but the only advice i get now is audio and thats if i dont have a Portuguese character.

              Thanks.

You have to go into your settings and turn Game Tips back on.

This thread will be for everyone to post any tips, help with gameplay mechanics, fight strategies, controls, and anything that will be helpful to the community. The more the community understands how the game works, the better fights we will have.

I'll start off with a few things and continue to post as I spend more time with the game:

                  - Dipping before shooting for a TD gives you more Grapple Advantage and makes the TD easier to land. If you go into practice mode or any offline/quick fight, you will see the GA meter go all the way in your favor when you dip.

                  - Shooting for a TD after a missed kick also gives you a lot of GA which makes TDs easier

                  - If someone is throwing a lot of hooks, you want to dip instead of slip left to right. If they are spamming uppercuts, slip left/right then counter.

                  - If someone is dipping alot, catch them with uppercuts....the damage will be more. If they are slipping left to right alot.....catch them with hooks or head kicks to that side.

                  - You can throw a sidestep hook by flicking the left stick up or down and then throwing a hook. It's pretty useful from what i've seen so far because it helps evade counter strikes.

                  - Working the body drains your opponent's stamina and is a good way to slow down aggressive opponents

                  - If your opponent is spamming leg kicks, check them. After about 2 or 3 checks, they will get a health event on their legs

                  - The higher your striking level(Boxing, Kickboxing, MT) the faster and more effective the combos will be. You will also have access to more combos the higher your level is.

That's all i can think of for now. I'm not much of a grappler so if anyone could post more grappling tips that would be good. Will post more as i learn new things.

When you said this "- Dipping before shooting for a TD gives you more Grapple Advantage and makes the TD easier to land. If you go into practice mode or any offline/quick fight, you will see the GA meter go all the way in your favor when you dip."

How do you dip? In Ea ufc 2 you leaned forward and then shot a single but it doesn't work or at least i can't figure it out in Ea UFC 3. It's making it very hard to take people down for me. I'm on Xbox One.

                  Thanks in advance

Well then you are in luck (until the patch) because it's glitched right now and grants auto takedowns.

Ducking is forward on the head movement stick.... but to be able to use it for a TD you have to be standing still. So stand still, lead forward, and prepare to be shot towards your opponent like a rocket. Don't get too reliant on this cheese though because it's getting fixed.

Buddy it's literally impossible to take people down outright outside of the clinch. The Lean forward takedown from ea ufc 1 & 2 was the only thing that gave grapplers a chance to get people down. Maybe with the patch they'll balance the striking and grappling out more.

Another overhand counter a straight to the body while moving in the direction of the overhand and follow it up with a lead hook you will circle out with the body straight and land a clean hook or fake the hook and back out to create space
