    Thanks fellas.
    I'd love a list of everyone's, say, top three tactics for victory. Not cheese, but just the most effective strategies.

    I have a big match planned against a buddy of mine on the weekend, with a whole pile of bragging rights on the line. Problem is, he's had the game since launch and I just got it, so I need to get up to speed fast!

      This is not the place to be badgering people about arranging online fights. This is the strategy and help thread, let's keep it on topic. Further off-topic posts of this kind will result in disciplinary action.

        He is going to mount, then ground and pound. The best 3 tactics for victory: Get the mount, Ko him, Get the mount.

        Seriously though, the mount will finsih a fight if you know what your doing. If you want a submission, practice with the stamina bars so you start to learn when fights drain ALL their energy and then slap on a submission. Just dont rely on the stamina bar it should only be used as a practice tool.

        Just make sure you know the ground game and it should be a battle. If you dont know the ground game it will be a long night.

          Well to be honest the tactics/strategry changes with the fighters you have or the oppenent you are facing. That is one of the beautiful things about this game. Your top level fighters will know the strenths and weaknesses of the fighter they are playing with and will use the strength and try to avoid the weak parts. So if he is one of those kind of guys the best thing to do is to try and pick on the weak parts of the fighter he is playing with.

          Now the other type of players is guys who play a certain way no matter who they play as. Those type of guys are a lot easier to figure out and exploit cause they are weak or strong in the same areas of the fight. In that case you are going to want to exploit his weakness and pick guys who are strong in that area. For example if he is bad in the clinch and doesn't block well there you should go with guys who are strong like Silva and Rampage. They would make quick work there if you are good at it.

          So like I said it really depends on the type of fighter you are and the type of fighter he is. If you are a strong ground and pound fighter you should stick with the guys who are strong in that area and vise versa. My suggestion is to pay close attention to how he fights the first couple of matches and see if he plays the same with everybody or plays to the fighters strengths. That would make it alot easier to figure out a gameplan of how to beat him.

              Yeah this to. I forgot to ask him what his skill level was like and if he was good on the ground. So yeah man add this to what I said and you should be good to go.

              Also practice mode is a great way to learn and get better at what you might be weak on. You can set it to play against the CPU and control how difficult he is. You can also put yourself in specific positions to work on getting better in them over and over again. It is a great tool.

                What exactly is the left stick "flick"? Like the physical motion of it with your thumb? I can't get it right and it takes me a bunch of tries and it just randomly happens. How fast/slow should I do it? I'm really confused on it.

                  I still haven´t gotten one succesful submission win, what´s up with that. I have created 2 stand up fighters just for the fact that it´s impossible to win on a submission against the CPU on any decent level.

                  Good game, but the ground game besides ground and pound is really getting me pissed off....

                  ANyone who get consistant submission wins against the CPU?

                    Yes i can submit on expert without really caring what their submission stat is. Its talked about multiple times in this thread.

                      I have a question about rubber guard offense. I know you can block RG transitions using right stick left or right but how do you transition out? I assume it's just like normal transitions but it seems I can't transition with much success..

                        That would be defense not offense. Anyway yes it is just a transition. Minor leads to open guard off, major half guard.

                          I'll have to practice that then..

                            You can also reverse out of their attempts in RG. I know reversing their attempt to full guard leads to side control.

                              I'm not even sure on how to reverse attempts normally. I see other people do it..

                              I try to stick to my catching kicks or punches, slamming them to the ground, and pounding them until they are KO'd or TKO'd. But, I'm sure reversing transitions is helpful when you're in trouble.

                                Just flick the stick... it's really that easy. Same motion as step punches, only with RS. I almost always flick it at them (i.e. if I'm on my back with my head pointing left, I flick towards them, which is right) and it works at a high rate. The different transitions have different timing, so you have to know when to do it, as the window of opportunity in most positions is very small. Err in favor of early as opposed to late if you're in an unfamiliar position -- they are almost always immediately as they attempt the transition.

                                The easiest ones to reverse for me are (you're on defense):

                                Close Guard --> Open Guard (by far the easiest, happens many times every fight, easy to see)
                                Side Control --> North/South
                                Side Control --> Mount Down
                                Close Guard --> Rubber Guard (very quick, BIG payoff if you get it)
                                Half Guard Down --> Half Guard
