That iswhy Strikeforce is a very big step under the UFC imo. I like bellator more too than them. There tournaments are put in place good.

I don't mind women's MMA, but that video and hype for Gina's return was just kind of horrible.

I agree that they are totally screwed if Overeem wins this. The title should have been on the line throughout the tournament if your going to have Overeem in it or have it the winner gets a shot at his title without him being in it.
Exactly. They should ditch the whole team. Mauro overhypes fights while there happening. Gus Johnson just doesnt seem to know much about mma.

Mauro doesn't bug me one bit, it's the other two jokers, especially Shamrock.

I think that we will see Overeem and Barnett advancing so things could still be decent. I hope to see Silva beat Overeem, do not want the champ winning this thing.

It makes no sense though. Lets play devils advocate here, if Silva beats Overeem and went on to win the entire thing then what? He fights Overeem again for the belt? So the previous winner has to fight the very guy he just beat to get the belt that should be his in the first place? If I didnt know any better I would swear the EliteXc guys were running Strikeforce.

Exactly. H would have to do that. If anything I want Overeem to lose to Werdum and either Sergei/Rogers/Barnett to win it.

i admit, i just realized Silva plays the winner of the Werdum-Overeem fight, which IMO are the best 2 fighters besides Silva left, so this makes no sense...see attached:

i agree with previous posters; they should modify the whole tournament NOW, maybe Coker wasnt expecting Fedor to LOSE...

Size never mattered before to Fedor. Now he looses and it's all of a sudden an issue. Glad he lost the last two as I got tired of hearing how great he was and how is the the best P4P ever.

NO-SIZE IS NOT AN ISSUE HERE

c'mon man, Fedor lost to the better fight last night, he is one of the best ever MMA fighters, EVER

look at Cain Velasquez, he isnt a 'Monster' and he BEAT ONE

MMA is more skill, speed and timing than anything, sure size helps if you know what to do with it

My concern with Bigfoot is, yeah he is freaking huge, but he doesnt look to have great coordination in his fights, and a super-grappler and/or fighter with great defense could take take advantage of that in a heartbeat

Come on man. Size wasn't an issue?

I mean, I thought the "Dana should cross promote a fight between Cain and Bigfoot Silva" was going to be the most ridiculous comment that I read in this thread. I guess not...

Size was part of the issue but not the main reason. Fedor just isn't as quick as he used to be. That's what made him the best heavyweight fighter of all time. He was amazingly quick for a heavyweight and extremely accurate in landing his punches. Now that he's lost some of that speed he doesn't have big striking advantage against guys like he used to. It would be like if Anderson Silva lost his speed.

I mean he did get outstruck in the first round by Silva and was also beaten to the punch by Brett Rogers in that fight before landing that overhand right.

                          excellent point

i honestly didnt think Fedor lost 'it' already though

But when Silva got fullmount & started just HammerFist-Pounding him, i knew that was it

265lbs of force behind those pounding hits would hurt even the toughest of fighters

Yeah, I get that it's a "idea or vision", it just doesn't make much sense. I mean, if Silva wins the tournament then it may be an interesting debate. But, up until last night Silva hasn't even showed that he's worthy of a UFC roster spot much less a shot at Cain or any of the top HW's for that matter. Overeem has a stronger case than Big Foot but, like I said that could all change in a few months.

Yeah, I get that and I don't think that size was all of the reason for the lost but, to say that it was compete non-issue is just....

I believe that his speed & quickness have slowed down a bit. I'm even questioning him motivation at this point. Although, I probably shouldn't because I don't know how his camp went but, all the talks about him getting into politics and his statements after the loss really makes me wonder where his head/heart is.

OKAY, no "debates" on UFC-SF fightcard

its strictly for idealistic, conversation-creating purposes
