sometimes i wonder if people really know what 'steroids' are for

if i was a professional fighter, i'd imagine i'd get 'steroids' prescribed to me quite often for 'recovery' due to broken tendons, torn muscles, due to the nature of the sport

    i dont really care man!

if guys in MMA gotta get some steroids for healing thats one thing

if they'll fail a test, and NOT for medicinal purposes, thats another

i have heard this about Brock, Cain, Nogueria, dosSantos, and many more

    i seriously dont care

the final battle/test will be settled in the octagon--bottom line

Seriously? I dont know who your source is but you might be the only person to even link Cain or Dos Santos to steroids, and Lesnar is only included because of how big he is with nothing to back up that claim. Face it, your guy failed a steroid test, and it wasnt for some supplement either, he got busted for a hard core steroid that is used by body builders and it stays in your system for a year to a year and a half. He either used it leading up to his fight with Ricco Rodriguez or for the championship fight with Justin Eilers. To act as if steroids are alright if youre taking them to recover is ridiculous but youre completely blind in your love for Silva so there isnt much else that can be said.

If I didnt know any better I would swear the EliteXc guys were running Strikeforce.
Isn't it also a bit of a mess if say Silva beats Overeem and loses to Barnett or Kharitonov?
The guy beat the champ but didn't win the tourny.

Agree completely, I was just throwing an example out there of how ridiculous this entire thing is. Then youve got the prospect that Fedor could find his way back into the tournament if someone got injured, if that happens it completely kills the legitimacy of the entire tournament.

Someone mentioned earlier about the brackets possibly being realigned now that Fedor is out. Wouldn't that then question the tournament and how they were banking on Fedor to win the whole thing leading them with Fedor to be on PPV in the finals? Fedor should not be able to find his way back into this tournament by any means........he lost. What is the point of the alternates then if your going to do this? Then anyone else (like glass jaw Arlovski) can campaign that they lost out and should be back in as an alternate.

Both Fedor and Overeem should not have been on the same side of the bracket. The brackets are so unbalanced here with the other side looking so weak with Arlovski, Rogers, Barnett, and Kharitonov especially now that Arlovski is out on that side. Rogers is a punching bag that doesn't belong in here, Barnett has been MIA, and Kharitonov is unknown who is one dimensional swinging for anything that moves.

At this point I think if they do realign these brackets that Silva gets swapped out with someone else on the other side. I would think that Silva vs. Overeem at this point in the finals would be better than Overeem or Silva vs. any of those other three guys.

yah-Coker mentioned something about Fedor being an "alternate"???
i dont get that logic AT ALL

the bracket was put together rather oddly

How will it work if Silva defeats Overeem and wins the whole thing?
Does he have to beat Overeem AGAIN to be SF HW champion???

Yes, Overeem will be champ after the tournament no matter who wins.

Yes, if Silva or whomever wins the tournament, gets a title shot against Overeem. Originally I think that the title was supposed to be on the line throughout the tournament. Someone posted the reasoning why they couldn't do it. I just think that Overeem should not have been in this at all.

It just irks me though how on Saturday they were over hyping this tournament with the winner being the greatest heavyweight in all of MMA. My thoughts are that they were dead set on Fedor winning in their minds. I don't know, when I look at UFC, their heavyweight division is much better overall. I can't blame them for trying to over hype their tournament and anyone would, but I hope they scale back on this crap.

Speaking of which, just how many times has Overeem defended that title anyway?

Had to have Overeem in it. The guy has defended the belt once in 3 yrs and would have been on the shelf for another year for SF if he wasnt in the tournament. What they should have done was made his fights in the tournament 5 rounds and for the belt.

I dont even know why they needed the tournament anyway. Just make the ****ing fights. That way you arent beholden to the tournament format. It gives SF more flexibility.

I do not have an objection to him being in it if he was defending that title. I do see your point too and yes, he should have been defending that title in the tournament. I guess it is what it is.

because SF needed buzz for their ultimate goal of a PPV. This "tourney" finally got M1 to allow Fedor in against SF's best, which is what people wanted since he got there. If he had beat Silva, they would have been closer to a PPV and even hinted at one of the rounds being in Japan, which would have been huge.

However, maybe this was just one last trolling by M1 Global. Maybe they knew Fedor was done fighting, and was for setting up a whole tease of a tourney knowing he'd probably lose in the first fight anyways.

SF wanted him in for obvious reasons. However, if Overeem was defending his title during the tourney, his fights would be 5 rounds while everyone else fought 3. They wanted every fight to be 5 rounds, but weren't allowed to due to rules..

I still think you get a PPV if you just have Fedor beat Silva and Overeem beat Werdum. You dont need a "Tournament" to hype a PPV. Fedor/Overeem would have at least made Aldo/Faber numbers if not more.

Also, I dont think most fans would have given a **** if the Overeem fights would have been 5 rounds because everyone knows they are 5 rounds because the winner gets the belt. Seriously, how can you have a HW champ defend a belt once in 4 yrs?
