Re: AEW Off-Topic
The diversity argument is not a good argument, when the company is as diverse as it is top to bottom. Now, if you want to make the argument that blacks have not gotten the pushes, fine. But that’s a totally different argument.
And now, when Jade wins the TBS title, the argument will be that it was only because of the backlash from this and not because that was the plan all along.
Which hurts Jade more than it helps her.

The majority of the talents that Tony Khan named as examples of diversity wrestle the majority of the time on the YouTube shows that no one really watches. It’s one thing for these talents to pick up wins but if it isn’t on the featured shows it really doesn’t matter. The people that are presented as “faces” or potential faces of the company are all white or lighter skinned (EVPs, 4 Pillars, Britt Baker). Jade Cargill is 20-0 and has not even had an opportunity to stand in the ring with Britt Baker.
Lack of diversity in the decision making of who gets featured: Their young trainees/recruits majority come from the nightmare factory or are associated with their white decision makers/influencers in the company (Arn Anderson’s son, Gunn Club, etc.).
People getting pushed down the card: People that helped carry water during the early days of the pandemic (Swole, Powerhouse Hobbs, Ricky Starks, etc.) either never advanced their position as more and more new free agents (majority white) stars come in.
Tony Khan’s immediate response and subsequent crapping on Swole (someone he complimented month’s earlier) shows a defensiveness and lack of open mindedness to consider that he doesn’t have all of the answers. To imply that Swole isn’t a good enough wrestler to have a contract when you employ Joey Janela, Luther (friend of Chris Jericho), Red Velvet (Nightmare family trainee), and Brock Anderson is also BS and just made him look terrible.Favorite Teams:

When you say that the company is diverse “top to bottom” what do you mean? I’d argue that if we’re talking “top and bottom”of the card. AEW could do better with the top of their card.

And quoting to help these points sink in.
I wanted to type very similar sentiments, but it would've come across as "hating."
And I understand Powerhouse Hobbs coming to the defense of his boss, but AEW hasn't given that man one signature win (jobbed out in every big match) and now he's third fiddle behind two guys he's twice the size of.
(Here is the tweet Hobbs sent out "defending" Khan.)

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Swole was well within her rights to talk about her experiences. How she feels is how she feels. Honestly, nothing she said bothered me and I understand why she would be coming from there. It’s obvious that the more people AEW sign, the more some wrestlers are going to get pushed to the back burner, and Swole was one of those.
Tony shouldn’t have tweeted what he tweeted. I would say if he had thought it through instead of having a knee jerk reaction, he doesn’t send that tweet out. Best thing Tony can do is just ignore this kind of stuff going forward. If numbers are improving, who cares what Twitter has to say?
Twitter is not the place to be having discussions like this. Hell, Hobbs got attacked for expressing his happiness working with the company. Having said that, I think Hobbs and Ricky Starks are two examples of guys who have gotten lost in the shuffle because of the bloated roster and deserve more time.
Having said all of that, ultimately, the business of pro wrestling is to make money. Those who are over will get more TV time, those who are not over won’t, whoever they are. The purpose of professional wrestling is to find the people who draw. Some people don’t care about that though, and don’t care if business goes down just so a certain percentage of time goes to certain people.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Kenny Omega tweets out (for the first time in a hot minute) about the main event from last night, several members of the IWC go after him, saying nasty things about his sexuality (who knows and who cares?) and claiming he’s a pedophile (thats a new low, even for Twitter).
Kenny clapped back.
Now the IWC is mad because he clapped back.
And the more righteous on Twitter feel that AEW needs their talent to go through social media training.
Maybe next time, just hit the block button. Trolls are gonna troll.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Wrestling fans (or more generally, fans of anything that has a big/cult following, whether it be a TV show, movie, sports team etc.) online are horrible.
And the wrestlers get baited too easily as well.
Its something I've said for years. Social media is great...if used properly. Blocking every last troll will be time consuming/a reason many have social media people running their accounts. But you can mute certain words, such as profanity or other "trigger words" so you won't see those tweets at all from anyone in your mentions.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Man, I saw Omega's tweet and the responses. The majority of the comments were very positive. He chose to go at the few negative ones in a petty back and forth.

Well I thought it was over, but then I saw that Cornette had to get his two cents in and it all started back up again today.
It’s like a bad car wreck…you don’t want to look, but ya can’t help it.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
It’s generally Cornette fans that go after Kenny since Cornette despises him because he no-showed a ROH event to do a NJPW event back in the day.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
I think Omega really wants Cornette to like him because he respects how smart he is regarding wrestling, but that ship has sailed, plus Cornette has a ton of issues that make basically unhireable. Cornette doesn't like Omega's showmanship, but then again he picks and chooses and isn't exactly consistent.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Cornette is actually pretty consistent.
Not saying I agree with all he says, but he's consistent on what he does and doesn't like at least on his podcasts.
