    Re: AEW Off-Topic

Just watched the latest episode of BTE and the segment with Trent and Yuta killed me...

Trent: See I've got this new gear and I did this really nice thing where I have something to represent everyone.

    Yuta: That's dope.

Trent: There's Kentucky...that's Chuck. This is a van for my mom. This is an orange for Orange Cassidy. This is an eye patch...that's Rocky. That's an alien, that's for Statlander. And over here, you see that?

Yuta: Is that a piece of ****?

    Trent: Yeah, that's a piece of ****. That's you.

I like Sammy as a wrestler but who he dates, married to, or whatever is none of our business. I don't get why people(not just wrestlers, but celebrities and even regular people with social media) feel the need to post every detail of their life to social media.
People just want to be celebrities, and for some reason social media has become a barometer for that, regardless of how many actual followers they have. And for some reason modern wrestlers are desperate to share their personal lives with everyone. I swear nearly every day I read a wrestler tweet about how people need to stay out of their lives, typically in the context of sounding empowered and clapping back. Meanwhile they are oversharing and acting like they are above it all just because they have more than x number of followers. Even indie wrestlers seem to get validation from it.

Then again, like you said, it's all types of people. How much youtube/Twitch channel drama is based on people thinking they are more important than they actually are? Or exaggering and playing the victim.

I'm sure it's been discussed before, but should AEW have a brand split? If done right, we could see the RA level of competition between shows.

The roster has so many people to the point that they probably should. Many dont even bother watching Dark or Elevation, and with Rampage about to be 2 hours, they sure could do something like that here.

Big Swole was talking about how a lack of diversity (among other things) led to her AEW departure. Tony Khans response let's say had mixed reviews.

So much for that mutual kumbaya stuff at the beginning.

Went to Twitter, and the woke scolds of Twitter are calling for the company to be shuttered. Sure let’s put a bunch of people out of work. That solves everything.

So here's the thing about what she said. She was 100% right about how Women in AEW struggled for time on the show, in the early stages of AEW there wasn't a lot of time dedicated to the Women's Division. She then talked how more signings that come in only hurt those who are already there, which is true. If she had stopped there, she would have a great point.

The whole diversity thing is kind of an odd angle to take things. AEW has a good amount of diversity, Nyla was Women's Champion, Rhio was the first Women's Champion. Lucha Bros being the Tag Champions hurts her argument, Jade's current push toward the TBS Title hurts her argument. Sure, Tony Khan once again getting himself in trouble when he opens his mouth but trying to claim not enough diversity when AEW has that is just odd. Does she feel like Tony should be trying to replicate Big E & Bianca? I'm confused on this part.

I definitely hate that he's such a public and constant voice re:AEW on social media, but if he's going to chime in I guess the time to do it would be when you are accused of what she said. Not surprised he was blunt. But it's probably not the best idea to poke the bear with someone who talks about her "peace being distupted" lol. And you know WWE is laughing at the Lio Rush tweet, and thinking "we told ya so, you idiot."

It's quite ironic that Lio is angry when he was the one who made a tweet about Emma not being ready for Asuka after she was released from WWE. Some AEW talent have tweeted responses so to speak, Shida tweeted she loves AEW, Captain Shawn Dean tweeted about his role behind the scenes and helping minorities, Nyla even tweeted asking if this means she's a babyface now lol.

The company has only been around for three years, give it time. I'm sure AEW will find their own Big E & Bianca one day and the representation will be better just like how WWE has improved on the representation in recent years as well.

His response was completely tone deaf & poorly thought out.

He really needs to learn to STFU & stop personally responding to every criticism.

Man, we had to realize all that "kumbaya" **** was a facade and there is "backstage turmoil" in every company.

But she's right, only Nyla has been represented as strong on television.

Everyone else who has been on television has been fodder for the (mostly White) upper card.

I made this very comment she made months ago (on here) & all I got was crickets.

The diversity argument is not a good argument, when the company is as diverse as it is top to bottom. Now, if you want to make the argument that blacks have not gotten the pushes, fine. But that’s a totally different argument.

And now, when Jade wins the TBS title, the argument will be that it was only because of the backlash from this and not because that was the plan all along.

Which hurts Jade more than it helps her.

I do wish Khan wouldn't share his every thought with the world, but to me the idea that what Swole said was constructive and not at all insulting, while Khan saying she wasn't a good enough wrestler was lunging across the desk level rage and vindictiveness is just ****ing stupid. Not onboard with that dumb narrative.
