Re: AEW Off-Topic
They became the thing they were rebelling against in some ways. Slickly produced weekly TV, content just for sake of content, bizarre logic decisions as a result of too many shows each week/PPVs all year, huge holes in booking logic, etc. They still have more of an adult style in terms of in-ring and promos, but they became generic corporate wrestling on the whole. Throw on top of that the AEW style of dream matches that only the diehards care about.
The "superstar jumps into a crowd of people and everyone falls down" spot they made fun of WWE for and they definitely do it regularly too.
Too many PPVs/PLEs from WWE, but AEW did 9 last year vs WWEs 12 (not including NXT ones) and WWE had 11 the year prior vs AEWs 8.
Them trying to do Dynamite, Rampage,Collision all in the same week without even doing a brand split so you never know who is even on what show anymore.
And the dream match stuff just doesn't sell when it's only a dream match to a section of internet wrestling fans. If the main hype for a match is "this might be a 4-5 star match", that doesn't sell or get people invested.
Not that I'm not enjoying the show, but it doesn't have that "big feel" as often.Last edited by Majingir; 01-23-2025, 09:24 AM.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
I randomly had a dream that Shelton Benjamin showed up to WWE and led an AEW invasion.
Maybe one day we'll see some sort of partnership between the two companies, but I doubt it. Even seeing the WWE deal with TNA feels like the most we'll ever see out of WWE.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
I feel like now WWE is going to have the same issue AEW had when they started bringing everyone over. The debut will be big, but then what? Who gets pushed out of the way, de-emphasized, etc, to make way for him. And do people care about him 6 months after he debuts?Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
WWE doesn't need depth anymore, they need "starters".
Black I think should get a shot for sure, Ricky they could try him out and see if he still has that potential in him. Miro I wouldn't bother having back because he'd really only be useful for the initial pop of his return/rusev day stuff.Last edited by Majingir; 02-10-2025, 05:17 PM.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
AEW announces that Double or Nothing will take place Sunday May 25th live from Glendale, AZ. Also Boston will host Dynamite & Collision on April 16th & 17th.
With Wrestlemania in Vegas and being later, it would have been too much to keep it in Vegas. Good, now move All Out from Chicago next.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Once trap Vince fell in to was how he was in charge of everything and didn't seem to want to delegate stuff around as much (at the higher up level at least) which was most noticeable once Linda left and Vince just added her job to his rather than finding others to do her job.
Not saying Tony should've brought Shane in (but if anyone can relate to Tony and his upbringing with a rich dad and a love for wrestling it is Shane), but seeing Tony not wanting to spread the workload around could eventually come back to bite him if he's solely running AEW and ROH with full control over everything all the time.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
AEW & Amazon Prime have reached an agreement on PPV Distribution. PPVs are going to be on Prime starting this Sunday with AEW Revolution.
This includes all AEW events, including Revolution, Dynasty, Double or Nothing, All In, Forbidden Door, All Out, WrestleDream, Full Gear, and Worlds End. “We are thrilled to work with Prime Video to bring all AEW pay-per-view events to their incredible service, marking a major milestone in the continued expansion of AEW’s global reach,” said AEW CEO, GM and Head of Creative Tony Khan. “AEW pay-per-view events are consistently the most exciting professional wrestling events in the world, and fans will now be able to experience that firsthand through Prime Video beginning with AEW Revolution this Sunday, March 9.”

Re: AEW Off-Topic
That's the only thing AEW is missing when it comes to these streaming deals. PPVs have to be included on them similar to the deal WWE has with Peacock. Like cool MAX will likely upload it after but just go ahead and live stream the PPV on MAX. Stop making fans go to Thriller or now Amazon to buy the PPVs.Comment
