Congrats on holding onto first in the Central.

Tough luck with Gibson and Diamond but looks like maybe Meyer could be ready to make his MLB debut. Also looks like you got some options in the OF. Could we see a 2013 sighting of Buxton. Also excited to see what Sano can do in AAA.

With the season Morneau is having have you decided yet if you are going to commit to a extension or would you still trade him?

Looking forward to seeing what Freddy Sanchez can do for you.. I signed him and had him play 10 games at AAA Tacoma at SS where he hit over .400 before joining the M's for the playoffs and finishing the year as my SS and #9 hitter. Then in 2014 he was my IF UTL guy until I dealt him to the Twins as part of the Hicks/Plouffe deals.

I like a lot of my possibilities down in the minors. I'm interested to see what Sano and Kepler can do in AAA and we may see Buxton by the end of the year. I haven't made a decision with Morneau yet because it's still very early in the season. You'll just have to keep tuning in to see!

I like what Sanchez can bring to the table. I'm definitely using him at shortstop and sending Carroll down because he has just regressed so quickly (I've never understood that about this game.) I hope that offensively he fits in nicely as I'm still trying to piece together my 7-8-9 and leadoff hitting spots. It's very competitive still and hopefully it won't hurt our chemistry.

          Harden's Performance Leads Twins

Rich Harden had a great game last night to lead the Twins to victory.
          By Aaron Ferguson
          Cleveland, OH

With the Twins continuing their road trip, they needed a strong pitching performance to begin their series with Cleveland. Rich Harden provided that for Minnesota last night after pitching seven innings and allowing just two earned runs. The Twins won last night's game 6-2 and now hold a 1.5 game lead over the Indians and Tigers in the Central Division

The offense received a jump start in the third inning when the bottom of the order had two early hits in the inning. Both Parmelee and Dozier would come around the score to take a 2-0 lead. Harden would take care of the rest from there while the offense added four more runs to give the Twins a 6-2 lead. Both Fien and Roenicke pitched scoreless frames in relief of Harden to preserve his first win on the 2013 season.

Minnesota is looking for another good pitching performance from Mike Pelfrey in today's contest. The Indians will throw Josh Tomlin on the mound. The game will be on FOX for their game of the week.

            Pelfrey Pitches Twins to Win

Mike Pelfrey goes seven, strong innings to earn a win.
            By Aaron Ferguson
            Cleveland, OH

Minnesota's starting pitching has looked great these past couple games. Yesterday was no exception as Pelfrey earned his second straight win. Pelfrey went seven innings allowing just one unearned run on three hits. Rookie, Ryan Pressly, closed the game with two scoreless innings and continues to look strong through his first three appearances.

The Twins offense was on fire yesterday afternoon. Freddy Sanchez went two-for-five with a home run and three runs batted in in the contest. Justin Morneau matched Sanchez's performance by going two-for-five with a home run and three runs batted in. Morneau is up to 13 home runs on the season which is only one behind Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder.

Minnesota continues to play well and looks to sweep the Indians today. Cole De Vries will be on the mound for the Twins and Brett Myers will go for the Indians.

              Indians Avoid Sweep, Beat Twins

Two great pitching performances yielded to a 5-1 Indians win.
              By Aaron Ferguson
              Cleveland, OH

Cole De Vries looked great yesterday in trying to finish the series sweep of the Indians. Going six and two-thirds innings, he allowed just three earned runs on six hits. Cleveland's Brett Myers did him one better. Myers went seven innings allowing one earned run on four hits.

Josmil Pinto hit the ball hard all day off Myers, including his first career home run, but it wasn't enough to beat the Indians. Myers earned his 100th career win. Michael Tonkin gave up a rare two-run home run to Jason Kipnis late to give the Indians a nice 5-1 cushion.

Minnesota will travel to Boston for a four-game series with the Red Sox. Both teams lead their respective divisions. This will be the last series of the 10-game road trip for the Twins.

                  Red Sox Walk-Off

Both offenses showcased their talents, but Boston pulled out a 7-6 win.
                  By Aaron Ferguson
                  Boston, MA

Vance Worley was looking to bounce back from a poor start in his last outing, however Boston's high-powered offense negated that from happening.

Worley was given a four-run lead heading into the bottom of the third when Worley gave up five runs to give the Red Sox a 5-4 lead through three innings. Boston added another run to their lead in the fourth to control the game by two runs.

Minnesota would score another run off of Franklin Morales in the fifth to bring the lead down to 6-5. Trevor Plouffe would hit his second home run of the game in the sixth inning to tie the game. Both bullpens took control of this game for the rest of the evening.

In the bottom of the ninth, Samuel Deduno allowed a leadoff single to Jacoby Ellsbury. Following Jacoby's single, was Dustin Pedroia who would strike out. With one out and the infield in, David Ortiz would get a 3-2 fastball that he pulled just past Josmil Pinto's glove at first base and Ellsbury would come home to score the game-winning run.

Haha, you mentioned it earlier in your Reds chise that you've been a silent follower. We started off hot, but lately we've struggled to play .500 baseball. I hope we can pick it back up.

                        Red Sox Roll Over Twins

Boston got a good performance from Clay Buchholz to beat the Twins 8-2.
                        By Aaron Ferguson
                        Boston, MA

Kevin Correia looked sharp early on in last night's contest. After allowing a leadoff walk to Jacoby Ellsbury, Correia got Dustin Pedroia to ground into a double play. It was smooth sailing from there as Corriea 8 consecutive hitters.

David Ortiz played a big factor in the win by hitting two more home runs. Ortiz's first came in the fourth inning after a leadoff double from Jacoby Ellsbury to give Boston a 2-0 lead. In the fifth, the Twins would get an RBI single from Chris Colabello to score Justin Morneau and cutting the lead to 2-1.

Boston would explode with a four-run fourth inning which began with a Will Middlebrooks home run. Clay Buchholz could pitch at ease from there with at least a five-run cushion for the remainder of the game. Daniel Bard would finish the game with a perfect ninth inning.

Minnesota will throw Rich Harden against Boston's Felix Doubrant in a critical game for the Twins. Minnesota has now lost three straight, dating back to Sunday's game against the Indians.

Twins End Streak, Bullpen Gets It Done

Minnesota's bullpen was able to keep Boston's offense to a minimum in a 8-7 win.
                          By Aaron Ferguson
                          Boston, MA

If offense wins games, it sure hasn't shown for the Twins this series, but tonight they scored eight runs and held onto the win.

Boston's offense ran out of steam in the later innings after scoring seven runs through seven innings. David Ortiz hit two more home runs against the Twins, which brings his total up to five in the series.

Trevor Plouffe has three home runs in this series after blasting a three-run home run off of Felix Doubront in the first inning. Minnesota would score four more runs in the sixth inning to take a 8-3 lead. That lead would eventually be cut down 8-7.

The Twins bullpen looked shaky with Casey Fien allowing two early runs, but he buckled down and set the tone for Burton and Perkins to throw scoreless frames. The Twins improve to 19-14 on the season and look to split the four-game set with the Red Sox tonight. It'll be no easy task as they have to face Jon Lester, who is 4-1 with a 3.59 earned run average.

                            Pitching Struggles Continue, Twins Fall

Minnesota closes the road trip with a sour taste in their mouth.

Minnesota continues to struggle with their pitching staff after allowing Boston to score seven runs last night.

Mike Pelfrey allowed five runs (four earned) in the five innings he pitched last night. Pelfrey's biggest downfall is losing confidence when he allows a run or two. It showed tonight as Boston's offense took advantage of Pelfrey feeling unsettled.

The Twins have to feel good about going 10-31 at the plate against Jon Lester and Koji Uehara last night. Scoring three runs off of Lester was encouraging to see, facing a Cy Young candidate in early May.

Minnesota's aggressiveness on offense was a double-edged sword last night. Pedro Florimon was able to stretch a single into a double last night, but Josmil Pinto got thrown out twice trying to do the same. The Twins tried to get bigger leads off Lester, but he was well-aware and picked three Twins off of first base.

The 10-game road trip marks the longest of the season to this point for Minnesota. They went 4-6 on the road and are happy to return home to Target Field tonight. The Twins will play nine straight games in the Twin Cities against Baltimore, the White Sox and Boston.

Baltimore landed three home runs from their heavy hitters to beat the Twins 4-3 in Friday night's loss.

Cole De Vries left two, two-seam fastballs over the plate for Chris Davis and Manny Machado in the fourth inning. Both fastballs were hit for home runs to give the Orioles an early 2-0 lead.

Following the two-run fourth, the Orioles would also get a run on an Adam Jones single to left field.

Leading 3-0, the Orioles' Miguel Gonzalez was cruising until a leadoff double by Trevor Plouffe gave the Twins momentum. Following Plouffe, Josmil Pinto would belt his second home run of his career to pull the Twins within one run at 3-2.

Nate McLouth added a run on a solo home run on the seventh, after replacing Nick Markakis in the first inning because of an injury. With Minnesota trailing 4-2, the Twins had bases loaded with two outs and rookie catch Josmil Pinto at the plate. Pinto checked his swing, but put the ball in play for an easy ground out to Machado at third. This was the Twins best chance at tying the game.

Ron Gardenhire will throw 25-year old Vance Worley on the mound tomorrow. Worley has struggled recently, but so have the Twins. Minnesota is 9-16 since their hot 10-1 start to begin the season. Baltimore will have Wei-Yin Chen on the mound in this evening's contest.
