        Game 18 vs. Hawaii

Nevada tops Hawaii 80-75 Behind Furious Second Half Rally
Down 20 early in the second half, Coach Bell was looking for any answer. Up to that point The Wolfpack had given up rebounds, missed layups, missed free throws and played awful defense. Coach Bell decided to turn up the pressure, which resulted in 16 Hawaii turnovers and multiple easy looks at the hoop. “They couldn’t handle the pressure in the second half.” Coach Bell said after the game. “Thankfully we found something to turn it around for us, because I had nothing.”
Joseph Bonner (37 points) and Devonte Elliot (26 points) both had career high in points as they were looked to carry the offense for the majority of the evening. With star point guard Deonte Burton (1-13 FG) struggling from the field, Elliot picked up the slack as he has all year. “Devonte is as good as anyone putting the ball in the hoop,” Burton said after the game, “He showed it tonight, he was big time.” The Wolfpack was out rebounded and shot nine less free throws than the Warriors, but the last ten minutes of the game was key.
NEXT: The Wolfpack travel to Idaho (9-5) to take on the Vandals.

          Game 19 @ Idaho

Wolfpack puts away Vandals 75-62, Extends Streak to 13
The Nevada Wolfpack beat the Idaho Vandals 75-62 Thursday night and extended their winning streak to 13 games! The Wolfpack used an early second half 15-2 run to take control of the game. “They really tried to slow the ball down and make us play half court.” Coach Bell said after the game. “It worked well in the first half, but our guys made them play our type of ball in the second half and it showed. After trailing the Vandals by 1 at the break, the Wolfpack outscored them by 14 in the second half.

The Wolfpack continued to see stellar play out of their three-headed monster of Joseph Bonner, Devonte Elliot and Deonte Burton. Burton bounced back from a poor showing for 12 points and 5 assists. Burton really looked to push the pace in the second half and it opened up shots for other guys. “We love playing at a high tempo.” Bonner, who scored a game high 20 points, said after the game, “When D is pushing the petal to the medal, that’s when we play at our best”. Elliot continued to play excellent off the bench with 18 points on 8-10 shooting.
NEXT: Nevada looks to continue the streak at LA Tech (5-14) on Saturday night.

            Game 20 @ Louisiana Tech

True Team Effort Pushes Nevada past Louisiana Tech 84-65
The Nevada Wolfpack saw contributions from everyone who played as they coasted to an 84-65 win over lowly Louisiana Tech. All players saw double-digit minutes and scored atleast one bucket. “I thought it was great tonight.” Coach Bell said after the game. “It is important to get some of these other guys minutes. You never know what could happen.” The Wolfpack shot over 50% and outrebounded the Bulldogs by 11 in truly dominating form.

Joseph Bonner led the way with his first career double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, but it was really some unsung guys who pushed Nevada ahead. CJ Anderson scored 7 of his season high 9 points in the half and finished with 5 assists. “I felt we were a little flat in the first half and I wanted to come in and bring it tonight.” Anderson said after the game. “I’m just happy to play my role.” Fellow newcomer Cesar Reid had his best game as a member of the Wolfpack with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks.

                Game 21 vs. Utah State

Early Big Half Run Propels Nevada past Utah State 71-57
The Nevada Wolfpack raced out to a 20-4 run to start the game and the team never looked back. Utah State was able to cut the lead to as little as six in the second half but a 7-0 Wolfpack answer all but ended the game. “That first half run was excellent” Coach Bell said after the game. “That was probably our best five minutes stretch of the season.. They had no answer.” The Wolfpack were the far more aggressive team all season and had a 17-6 advantage from the free throw line.

The Wolfpack saw four guys reach double figure points, with Jordan Burris leading the way with 21, a season high. Burris was far more aggressive than he has been this season scoring 15 of his 21 points in the first half. “Really important to get Jay going,” Coach Bell said after the game. “He such a versatile and athletic guy, we must get him more shots going further into the season.” Joe Bonner had another double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds) and super sub Devonte Elliot had 18.

Game 22 @ San Jose State

Bonner’s career high 42 carries Nevada past San Jose St. 89-79
In a final score that did not indicate how close of a game it was, Joe Bonner had a career high 42 points in helping Nevada beat San Jose State. Bonner hit 6 threes and was 16-25 from the field. “Bonner was unbelievable tonight.” Coach Bell said after the game. “And we needed every single one of those points tonight.” The Spartans and Wolfpack battled all night long. The game was a one or two game possession game all night, despite Bonner’s career night.

Besides Joseph Bonner, Deonte Burton was the only member of the Wolfpack to score in double digits. He had 18 points and 5 assists with a season high four 3’s. “Joe was unreal tonight.” Burton said after the game. “All you can really do is sit back and watch and chip in when you can.” The Wolfpack used the free throw line to their advantage, going 17-17, with most of them coming in the final two minutes.

                      Game 23 vs. Fresno State

Smith’s jumper from the baseline buries Nevada 71-69
Greg Smith, the nation’s leading scorer, hit a jumper from the baseline with 4.6 seconds left to beat the Nevada Wolfpack and hand them their first conference loss of the season. Smith, who was relatively held in check with 16 points, found other ways to beat the Wolfpack. He had a career high 6 assists finding open three point shooters all game. “ I thought we did a great job on Smith.” Bell said after the game. “He’s just a hell of a player and can beat us in more ways than one.” The loss also ended a 16 game winning streak for the Wolfpack.

Joseph Bonner, who had 18 points and struggled from the field (6-18), missed a jumper from the top of the key as time expired. “That’s a shot I hit 9 out of 10 times.” Bonner said with a sigh, “I’m pretty bummed out right now.” Deonte Burton had another solid shooting night (7-14) to go for 20 points and 6 assists. Burton has been averaging 16 points and 6 assists in the last three games.

haha spoke too soon but yes very much so. I've actually lucked into a very good Nevada team. Burton is a beast but this Bonner guy is awesome. He was the #1 SF recruit as a HS Senior and he's only a sophomore.

I was playing last night and I've decided to change the format of my dynasty presentation. While I will still plan to play, recruit, and try to win as Nevada, I'm gonna start focusing less on the after game write ups and start focusing more on the created player aspect. I think thats what makes this dynasty unique and should be the focus of the dynasty.

I plan on speeding through the remainder of the series with updates and start focusing on the created players once the new season starts. If you have any ideas on how to highlight them, I'd love to hear some ideas. If not, I'll prolly just focus on their seasons and careers with in-depth write ups

Nevada rebounded from the first conference loss against Fresno State.
