Woah I blink and miss a slew of updates. Congrats on the Nevada job. I was very tempted to take it once upon a time years ago in my legacy. It's a sweet gig.

Keep this up. I'm enjoying it!

            Game 11 @ Brigham Young

Nevada wins close one, squeaks by BYU 80-78

The Nevada Wolfpack went into a tough environment and beat the BYU Cougars 80-78 Saturday night. The Wolfpack led the way most of the game but thanks to missed free throws, the Cougars were able to make it close at the end. BYU was able to cut the lead to one but time was not on their side as Joseph Bonner was fouled with 1.1 seconds left. Bonner purposely missed the second free throw and time expired. “We missed a lot of free throws tonight,” Coach Bell said after the game. “Thankfully we took a ton to offset that.” The Wolfpack held a 28-11 advantage at the free throw line.

Four players scored in double figures led by Jospeh Bonner’s 26 points. Super Sup Devonte Elliot added 15 points and 5 rebounds and continued to be spectacular off the bench. Jordan Burris was a perfect 55 from the field on his way to 14 points. “This is a really tough place to play.” Burris said after the game. “They pack this place so it was great to come out with a win.” The win moves the Wolfpack to 7-4 on the season.

              Game 12 vs. Saint Mary’s

Nevada Beats Saint Mary’s, Pushes Winning Streak to Six

The Wolfpack rode a hot first half to beat, last year’s national runner up, Saint Mary’s 69-61 Thursday night. The Wolfpack were on fire to start the night and took a 16-point half time lead. However, Saint Mary’s locked down and held Nevada to 24 points in the second half. It just wasn’t enough as both teams went cold in the second half and the Wolfpack were able to hold on. “That was about as ugly 20 minutes as you can play.” Coach Bell said after the game. “Thankfully, we played well in the first half.”

The Wolfpack were led by Joseph Bonner with 22 points. Bonner led the way in the first half scoring 20 of his 22 points. However, he went cold in the second half going 1-8. Looking for someone to pick up the scoring load, the Wolfpack saw big contributions from the bench. Patrick Neyko hit two, key 3 pointers late in the second half and C.J. Anderson had a season high 8 points. “Our bench really picked us up tonight.” Cesar Reid, who had 10 rebounds, said after the game. “In a game that we thought would be high scoring, they were huge tonight.” The Wolfpack have now won 6 in a row to put their record at 8-4.

NEXT: The Wolfpack finish their non-conference schedule home against Oral Roberts.

                Game 13 vs. Oral Roberts

Nevada uses late second half run, beats Oral Roberts 84-74

The Wolfpack of Nevada finished the game on a 10-4 run to secure the final out of conference game of the season. Oral Roberts used a barrage of threes in the second half to keep the game close after falling behind 43-36 at half. The two teams combined for 21 three pointers in the game. “Oral Roberts did a real good job of keeping it close in the second half.” Coach Bell said after the game. “Everything seemed to be falling but our guys did a great job of closing out the game.” The win pushes the Wolfpack to 9-4 on the season.

The Wolfpack had four players in double digits. Joseph Bonner led the way for Nevada with 31 points on 11-16 shooting. Game 14 vs. Boise State

Nevada Opens Up Conference Slate with Win, Beats Boise State 61-52

In a game that featured both teams have cold shooting nights, the Wolfpack were able to hold off the Broncos of Boise State. The Wolfpack shot a season low 38% and the Broncos did not shoot much better at 41%. However, the Wolfpack won the game on the glass with a 38-30 overall advantage and a 10-2 advantage on the offensive glass. “That happens when you miss shots,” Coach Bell said after the game, “You get a lot of second chance points and we were able to convert them.” The Wolpack sit at 10-4 on the season after the win today.

The Wolfpack had four players in double digits for the second game in a row. Jospeph Bonner had 19 points and 6 rebounds to lead the way, with Deonte Burton chipping in 15 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. However, Devonte Elliot was the key today. He had his first double-double of the season going for 10 points and 11 rebounds, including 7 offensive rebounds, off the bench. “Devonte was huge for us tonight.” Joseph Bonner said after the game. “He gave us chance after chance all night and eventually we’re gonna score.”

                    Game 15 @ Utah State

Team Effort Lifts Wolfpack past Aggies 74-68

When your playing on the road and your leading scorer is having an off night, it is important for the rest of the team to pick up the slack. Behind excellent bench play and some key buckets late, the Nevada Wolfpack were able to hold off a late surge by the Utah St. Aggies. “We got a huge effort from a lot of our guys tonight. “ Coach Bell said after the game. “Playing in an extremely hostile environment like this, it’s important the guys are locked in.” The win puts the Wolfpack at 11-4 on the season.

Joseph Bonner, Nevada’s leading score, struggled on the night going 4-14, scoring 14 points, eleven below his season average. Deonte Burton picked the team up on the night scoring 18 points (8-9 FG) and handing out 7 dimes. He hit some big shots down the stretch, stretching 4 point leads into 7 point leads. However, the bench, seen as a weak point all season, was key tonight, outscoring the Utah St. bench 22-10. C.J Anderson had a season high 9 points on 4-4 shooting. “I had some lanes to the hoop tonight.” C.J said after the game. “Coach told me to be more aggressive before I went in and that’s what I tried to do.”

Lost interest with this when all my pictures got deleted from my computer when it crashed and essentially deleted them from this dynasty. Finally went back and edited all the pictures and graphics back in.

The dynasty mode always brings me back to this game. The best by far. I always get an itch this time of the year to play anyway so I will start updating again in the next few days or so!

Reid’s Rebounds Late Seal Nevada Victory 65-61
Cesar Reid had offensive rebounds on 3 consecutive possessions as the Wolfpack were able to kill the last 1:45 of the game. Off of two Bonner misses and a Burton three attempt, Reid found himself in position to secure the offensive rebound. Reid who finished with 9 rebounds (4 offensive), said after the game, “I fought hard for position and was able to find myself in the right place on those misses.” New Mexico State closed to as close as 4 after trailing by as much as 23 in the early part of the second half.

Joseph Bonner led the way again for the Wolfpack with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Devonte Elliot continued to play well off the bench, with many of his minutes coming in crunch time scored 9 points and snagged 6 rebounds. “I’m just in there to provide a spark,” Elliot said after the game. “Whether it’s rebounds, scoring, or diving for loose balls, I’m trying to be that spark.” Nevada dominated the boards again with a +13 margin, with 7 offensive boards leading to multiple extra possesions.
