Yeah, Peterson and Ray are actually pretty good 3 Point shooters for being big men... I believe both of their 3 point ratings are around 70

November 13, 2010: Radford vs. Auburn

Radford "upsets" Auburn on the road by a final score of 68-66.

Just so you know, Auburn Sophomore SF Maynard Hope made a jump shot with 0.6 left in the game to make it a two point game. I just inbounded the ball and the clock expired. Also, Radford's overall is 82 and Auburn's overall is 80.

Radford was led by Sophomore SG Kenny Andrews who scored a game high 17 points. Andrews also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. Freshman SF Latece Mathis finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Sophomore C Marquis Peterson finished with a double double by finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. One player worth noting is Freshman PG Josh Tigert. Tigert didn't score a point, but he had 6 steals, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and did not turn the ball over once in 26 minutes of playing time.

Auburn was led by Senior PF Chas Osborne who finished with a double double by scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Junior SF Kurtis Bean came off the bench and scored 12 points in just 18 minutes of playing time. Sophomore PF Len Victor finished with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.

November 19, 2010: Radford vs. #9 Oklahoma State

Radford pulls off the 72-68 upset over #9 ranked Oklahoma State!!

Radford had a balanced scoring attack all game since 3 of their starters were in foul trouble with 4 fouls. Freshman PF Melvin Reeves led the Highlanders in scoring with 13 points on 4/13 shooting for the 2nd straight game. Sophomore PF Brandon Ray came off the bench and scored 10 points for the 2nd straight game. Ray was 3/5 from the field and also had 3 blocks. Freshman C Reed White was ultimately the difference maker. Marquis Peterson was in foul trouble most of the game, and White played an outstanding game. White finished with 8 points on 3/3 shooting, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks in 14 points of playing time. Sophomore C Marquis Peterson almost finished with a double double by scoring 9 points and grabbing 7 boards.

Oklahoma State was basically a one man show. Senior SF Iman Lalugba had a fantastic game and almost finished with a double double. Lalugba finished with 24 points and 9 rebounds in 37 minutes of playing time. Junior SF Christopher Bozeman came off the bench and almost had a double double as well. Bozeman finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Another reason Radford won was the fact that Sophomore C Marquis Peterson and Freshman C Reed White held Oklahoma State's Senior C Noel Bennett to just 5 points on 1/15 shooting. Bennett shot just 7% from the floor which is a career low.

              November 20, 2010: #16 Clemson vs. Radford

Radford stuns #16 Clemson as they win the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic Championship by a score of 73-58!

Radford was led by Freshman SF Latece Mathis who scored 13 points on 4/5 shooting from the field, 2/2 from behind the 3 point arc, and 3/4 from the free throw line. Mathis also had 6 rebounds in the game. Junior SG Sammy Coleman had a great game in his 15 minutes off the bench. Coleman finished with 14 points on 5/8 shooting and he also dished out 5 assists. Sophomore C Marquis Peterson finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Sophomore SF Emmett Bonner came off the bench and chipped in 9 points.

Clemson had one player score in the double figures in points. 6'8" Junior SG Rich Robertson finished with a team high 13 points on 4/8 shooting. Junior PG George Stiles had a solid game all around by scoring 8 points, dishing out 6 assists, and got 3 steals. Junior SF DeAndre Blackgrove and Senior PG Ayinde Vignale both chipped in 8 points.

One thing that surprised me is the fact that Clemson doesn't have any Centers on their roster and just 1 Power Forward on their roster. Their tallest player is 6'9" Power Forward Petie Morton. Now, if they were playing in the Big South that would probably be ok... But this is a team that goes up against Duke, North Carolina, Maryland, etc. So, it'll be interesting to see how this team does moving forward.

Some nice wins so far this season, congrats on the upsets of Clemson and Oklahoma State. Mathis has been incredibly efficient for a freshman, I can only imagine how glad you must be to have him.

You can say that again! When I was recruiting Mathis, I was originally planning on him being the backup to Emmett Bonner. Then I checked out the 2010-2011 roster for the 1st time and was stunned to see Mathis' overall was 78!

And then my highest ranked recruit, Freddy Hacker, has the lowest rating of any player I brought in for my 2010 class lol.

December 4, 2010: Norfolk State vs. Radford

Radford defeats instate rival Norfolk State by a final score of 73-63.

Radford was led by Sophomore C Marquis Peterson who finished with 15 points on 7/14 shooting. Sophomore SG Kenny Andrews almost finished with a double double by scoring 13 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Andrews also had 4 assists and 3 steals. Freshman PF Melvin Reeves had a solid outing as he scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Sophomore SF Emmett Bonner came off the bench and scored 8 points and grabbed 6 boards.

Norfolk State was without a doubt led by Redshirt Senior PF Drake Strawberry who had a FANTASTIC game. Strawberry finished with a game high 19 points and 18 rebounds. The Highlanders threw double teams at him, made Centers Marquis Peterson and Reed White guard him, and he still just demolished Radford in the post. Senior PG Rod Andrew finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.

I feel kinda bad for Norfolk State's Drake Strawberry. Strawberry is 80 overall... And they have no other player rated higher than 59.
