I do decide to leave Ramage in the starting lineup, but will be liberal with my use of Bass.
The second media time out is at 11:40 and we lead 18-7 and SFPA is really struggling to score. Bartell has 6 points and Nason 7. Serrano has 2 fouls and will sit a while.
I didn't play Woodworth in the last game, the first game he hasn't played in all season and it was probably a mistake. He's good defensively and every once in a while he gets a few buckets, this was one of those time as he has 4 points and 2 boards in his 5 minutes today. With 4:30 left we lead 28-16.
Flores hits two threes in the last two minutes, and the last one is with just a few seconds left in the half. Without that, this would be a different ball game. At half, the score is Appalachian State 34 - St. Francis PA 25. Both teams are struggling offensively, but we've had a few guys nail some threes, and that's been the difference. Because of his late treys, Flores leads us with 8 points which is already just one off his career high.
The first 6 minutes are very sloppy, and with 14:18 left we lead 39-30. Both teams are missing shot after shot, and it's just a few free throws on each side mainly. Serrano picks up his 3rd and 4th as did McLoughlin and Bartell is 1-10 from the field, and yet we're up by 9.
Media timeout at 10:42 and we lead 49-37. Nason is quickly us to 15 points and has 7 rebounds as well. Flores has another triple and is into double figures for the first time in his career.
6:41, media timeout and we lead 55-41. Ramage has 8 and 10 while Bass is really struggling. Serrano fouls out on the next play.
I call a timeout with 3:58 to get the starting lineup in, plus Flores for the fouled out Serrano. We lead 61-47.
We are able to run away from them even more by the end of it, and our defense holds another team to sub 30% shooting. Final score: Appalachian State 67 - St. Francis PA 50. Flores gets a well deserved player of the game award after a career game, though I'd probably give it to Nason's 17 and 7. Bartell had a very rough game, while Ramage showed why he averaged 11 and 8 as a sophomore, his poor play this year makes me forget he's got some established stats here. Nice to get a comfortable win, just our 2nd of the sort of the year.
