Oggy is going big or going home with these targets lol. Interesting approach to see as I'm sure he can offer them a bigger role out of the gate rather than the prospect going to sit on the bench for 1-2 years at a big program school (although from your list it doesn't seem like CH takes that into account lol).

Best of luck to your continued 2k roster switch, I'll surely be relying on you and Marshdaddy's expertise when I inevitably have to do it in a couple years.

Yeah, he's really swinging for the fences for sure. CHoops 2K actually does take some of that into account. Prospects have a priority list that gets revealed as you spend more time talking to them. It can be things like:
      • Wants good coaching
      • Wants to play close to home
      • Wants to be at a big program
      • Wants playing time

He's probably foolish for going after the Florida center who probably has a "wants to be close to home" desire, but we won't know until we get through a bit more recruiting.

Oggy's best tools right now are probably close to home for California kids, and playing time for some positions. Dinko has a slight advantage in the "good coach department" (Oggy has more points in Charisma, Dinko more points in various coaching skills) but a disadvantage in all other categories.

The best advice I can give is do it on PC. I can't imagine doing this without the modding tools. I also get to have the console window and PC open at same time. Trying to go back and forth between two games on the same console sounds tough.

I wish NBA 2K had the option MLB the show does, where you can continue saves across versions of your game.

Oggy going after top talent only. I like it... best of luck. Recruiting can be a bear on CHoops, but also realistic.

I find it to have the same basic fault as virtually every other college sports game I've ever played-far too many top 100-200 players are sitting in March with 0 offers while smaller schools have been signing up 1* players to their roster with far better options available after big schools recruit top players as backup plans and never offer. It may be difficult for St. Francis types to get elite talent, as it should be, but they can still tremendously overachieve.

Yeah, he's being ambitious, but is hoping that his reputation, the draw of LA, and the chance to turn a program like LMU around is a draw. Getting a few 4-stars would be humongous for finding a way to compete with San Franscisco and Gonzaga.

CHoops recruiting has its quirks, but I never seem to be able to "run the table" and easily grab all the guys I want, which makes it more fun.

Yeah, it ends up being a bit top heavy for sure, especially when 1*s are basically worthless in this game. I do wish that a player that had 70% interest and only 1 scholarship offer would just accept that offer instead of disappearing into the nether. Or at least become a walkon for some program. But they just disappear.

Not sure St. Francis will get a 4* anytime soon, but I'm certainly trying. Getting consistent 3* players has helped a lot though and the Red Flash certainly out-talent the rest of the NEC.

Love the recruits we're seeing. This feels like the moment why Oggy goes from a nice mid-major coach to elevating to higher levels. If he can nab these guys and start winning some games in March, his stature and bar starts to seriously rise up. Excited to see what happens.

As someone who doesn't have a PC and did it on console twice, it's not fun. I created a spreadsheet and a tab for each team, jotted down every player's grade at each level, and then figured out the backend system that determined what numbers correlated to what letter grade. It's worth it to be able to play the game on a better console, but it takes about a month to pull off if you're not dedicating hours a day.

I'm sure Stud has got it figured out for him, but I would also only worry about porting over the top-50 guys accurately and the top-10/15 perfectly. The dudes at the bottom of the rotation, I stopped caring about if they looked the same or if their stats were equal, but the best players, the Jevon Rolle's, Jaylen Justice's, Amari Swift's, those I made sure were correct.

              Good luck!

Yeah, I hope it's that moment. If this can be an inflection point for him, hopefully it's ~3 years in LA and then he can take a job in the Big East, ACC, or somewhere similar.

Yeah, as I'm slogging through the rosters I sort of wish I took your approach. The problem is that I've built up such a rich universe of players via my College Hoops save, and all these bottom of the roster guys are people who made runs in March Madness, or are sleepers who will bloom later on, and I didn't want to delete them.

Update: I've been blocked on getting rosters transitioned for the last week due to a bug where my MyLeague saves aren't being written to disk. I've got a help ticket with 2K that's been escalated and they are trying to help. I lost 1-2 hours of work on the Lakers and Kings before I realized what was happening.

Basketball coaching season ends in ~4 weeks, which hopefully gives me more time to dive into the college hoops side as well.

2K stays buggy.... Best of luck for the rest of your league transition and the rest of the IRL season.

                        2024-25 NCAA Season Preview

After an exciting up-and-down regular season that saw more parity than usual and the first title in over a decade for Kansas, we’re ready to kick off another season. All of the “Midnight Madnesses” have wrapped up and the tip off for college basketball is just around the corner. Here’s the season preview from Clark and Greg:

                        Top Teams
There’s a lot of parity at the top and no clear-cut favorites for the title this year. Reigning champion Kansas is rank 16th after losing several players to the NBA.

Looking at the top 9, two teams have a clear advantage of seniority: #1 Villanova and #5 Marquette are both starting 4 seniors and have a lot of talent. #6 UConn and #3 Louisville are both very talented teams that have played together for several years and should challenge for a Final Four berth.

It feels like perennially under-achieving UCLA is over-rated here, as is a North Carolina team that lost their best two players and has a weak frontcourt. With as young as Duke is (starting a freshman and two sophomores) it’s hard to imagine them remaining a top team all season long.

                        Top 25

                        All Americans

Villanova had 3 players represented here, but UCLA, Louisville, North Carolina, and UConn all had players snubbed from the list.

Quick update - managed to work around the save issue in NBA 2K. Have imported through the Pistons, working on the Raptors now. So only 12 teams left. Thanks for your patience, and I'm glad there are several other great dynasties to read (especially here in the basketball and in the football sections).

Thanks man, me too. The NBA storylines are amazing and we should see St. Francis dominate and Oggy have an interesting season out West. I actually played 1 game as SFU already (it's been 6-8 weeks ago) and probably should look at getting that posted. It was a really close game against Tulane and NBA prospect Jazz Grace.
