June 19: Cincinnati Reds @ New York Mets (34-35)

El Duque, Soler Pitch Well in Their Debuts

New York (AP)- El Duque and Alay Soler combined to pitch the whole game for the Mets both making their debuts. Hernandez pitched 3 scoreless innings before giving up back to back jacks to Griffey and Dunn. El Duque threw 5 innings total, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out just 1. He was limited to 60 pitches as he was pitching on just 3 days rest in order to keep the rotation in line. Alay Soler looked very strong in his debut, striking out the first 4 batters he saw. He would pick up the save pitching 4 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits, striking out 4 and not walking anyone. The Mets offense was provided on an RBI triple by David Wright in the 1st inning, followed by a 2 run homer by Xavier Nady in the 3rd, his 10th of the season. Castro and Franco would add RBI base hits of their own. Dave Williams dropped to 5-7 on the season with the loss.

          Injury Updates

New York (AP)- Carlos Delgado's time on the DL is up. He is not fully recovered yet, but is expected to be at full strength in the next week or so. He will likely pinch hit in the final game of the Reds series. He should be in the lineup for the 3 upcoming interleague series as the DH while he gets his swing back then will move back to first base when the Mets come back home to face the Pirates on July 3rd.

Jose Valentin has been placed on the 60 Day DL with a torn groin. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

              Bad News:

I let my friend my memory card to copy the latest DL rosters off, and he accidentally deleted my franchise file off of it.

Looks like this is done for.
