Couple of notes. Batting averages still seem a little high. However, they are down significantly from the end of April. The team BA in April was .330 or so, and it's down to .317 now, so hopefully that trend downward continues to keep it realistic.

You'll also notice I'm not a very patient hitter as evidenced by the walk totals.

June 1: San Francisco Giants (32-22) @ New York Mets (27-26)

Bonds, Giants Light Up the Mets, 8-1

New York (AP)- The San Francisco Giants would homer often tonight as the Mets get off on the wrong foot to begin the month of June. The Giants put up 8 runs on 12 hits, including 7 extra base hits coming in the form of 2 doubles, a triple, and 4 home runs. Barry Bonds hit 2 run homers, pulling within 1 of Alex Rodriguez in the home run chase. Randy Winn and Pedro Feliz would hit the other ones. Winn and Bonds both had 3 RBIs as the Giants scored 3 runs each in both the 4th and 5th innings. Aaron Heilman had easily his worst outing of the year going just 5 innings, giving up 6 runs on 10 hits, walking 3 and striking out just 1. Sele pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief, and Bell gave up 2 runs on a 2 run homer to Bonds in his 2 innings of relief. Jeff Fassero picked up the win for the Giants improving to 2-1.

Note: Zito's start will be skipped, and Pedro will start. Zito well pitch on June 3rd, in order to move him into the #2 spot in the rotation rather than the #5 spot.

June 2: San Francisco Giants (33-22) @ New York Mets (27-27)

          Mets Bounce Back, 6-5

New York (AP)- The Mets manager pulled a "Dusty Baker" tonight and allowed Pedro to stay into the game until his pitcher's arm darn near fell off. Pedro pitched one ugly game tonight, being effectively wild, throwing a whopping 138 pitches over 8 innings, giving up 4 runs, 3 earned, on 3 hits, 7 walks, and 9 strikeouts as the Mets picked up the 6-5 win. The Mets got off to a 4-0 lead as A-Rod hit a pair of solo home runs, and Xavier Nady hit a 2 run home run early on. The Giants would answer back in the 5th on an RBI double by Ray Durham and in the 7th on a bases loaded double by Moises Alou. Rather than pulling Pedro for the 8th, Manager Lanteri elected to leave him in, and he responded with a 7 pitch 8th. The Mets would score a run in the bottom of the 8th on an RBI GIDP by Paul LoDuca. Duaner Sanchez picked up his 1st save of the season as I accidentally put him in, instead of Wagner in the 9th.

Assed out would be the technical term for it.

                  Mets Announce Two More Trades

Disclaimer: I'm aware that some of these aren't 100% realistic, and I'm aware that I'm trading guys I just acquired, it's really just a personal feel thing. I hope you guys understand and continue to read anyways.

New York (AP)- The Mets have two more trades to announce today. The first is Barry Zito for Kerry Wood, and the second Jason Marquis and Billy Wagner for Keith Foulke and Matt Clement.

Like I mentioned in the disclaimer, the trades might not be as realistic as they get but I tried to keep them in a fair range. I made the trades for Wood and Clement because I've noticed thus far that I'm downright terrible when trying to pitch with finesse pitchers like Tom Glavine and Barry Zito. Unfortunately Glavine is too damn old to move so I did what I could to bring in two power pitchers in Clement and Wood. Giving up Wagner was real tough, but necessary. I am confident that Foullke can be an effective closer. If he proves not to be I can always move Julio or Sanchez into that role.

                    Mets Revamp Their Roster

I've decided I want to go back to as close to the original roster I could get, because I felt the numerous trades I've made were highly unrealistic, so after a series of trades my roster now looks like this:

                    SS- Jose Reyes
                    C- Paul LoDuca
                    CF- Carlos Beltran
                    LF- Cliff Floyd
                    3B- David Wright
                    RF- Xavier Nady
                    1B- Julio Franco
                    2B- Kaz Matsui

                    Bench

So Taguchi (Cards wouldnt give me Diaz back for anything)
                    Ramon Castro
                    Jose Valentin
                    Lastings Milledge
                    Anderson Hernandez

                    Pitching Rotation

                    1- Pedro Martinez
                    2- Tom Glavine
                    3- Brian Bannister
                    4- Aaron Heilman
                    5- Victor Zambrano

                    Bullpen

                    Jose Lima
                    John Maine
                    Royce Ring
                    Chad Bradford
                    Duaner Sanchez
                    Jorge Julio
Keith Foulke (Red Sox wouldnt give up Wagner for anything)

                        Seo Outduels Heilman, 3-1

Los Angeles (AP)- Jae Weong Soe outdueled Aaron Heilman tonight in LA en route a 3-1 victory. Heilman pitched strong into the 7th inning before giving up all 3 of his runs allowed in the 7th. Heilman was able to record the first two outs in the 7th before giving up 3 runs on a 2 RBI triple by Bill Mueller past the dive of Cliff Floyd in left, followed by an RBI single by Rafael Furcal to make it 3-0 before Heilman recorded the final out. The only run scored for the Mets on the night was a solo home run by David Wright, his 5th of the season. Eric Gagne picked up his 18th save of the season and Seo improved to 5-5.

Dodgers Top Mets in 12 innings, 6-5

Los Angeles (AP)- Two chances at victories for the Mets were blown tonight as the Dodgers topped them 6-5. The Mets would blow a 1 run lead in the 8th as Royce Ring was credited with the run being given up for a blown save. The Mets would score in the top of the 10th to take the lead back, but the first pitch J.D. Drew saw from Keith Foulke in the bottom of the 10th was a fastball which he launched into the bleachers to tie it up at 5-5. Then in the bottom of the 12th with 2 outs and Sandy Alomar Jr. on 2nd base, Ricky Ledee of all people hit a line drive just past the dive of Jose Valentin at 1st base which scored Alomar Jr. from 2nd giving the Dodgers the 6-5 win. Ring and Foulke were credited with blown saves and John Maine picked up the loss.

The Dodgers starter Odalis Perez left the game in the 2nd inning with an unknown injury.

Julio Franco left the game holding his arm after making a throw on a double play midway through the ballgame. Injury update will be posted in a few.

Update: Franco is day-to-day with a forearm strain.

                              Webb Dominates Mets, 3-0

Arizona (AP)- The Mets struggles continue as Brandon Webb dominated them to the tune of a complete game 5 hit shutout, posting 9 strikeouts. Jeremi Gonzalez pitched fairly well in his spot start going 6 innings, giving up 3 runs, 2 earned, on 6 hits but picked up the loss as the Mets weree unable to manufacture any runs. The Mets best opportunity came with the bases loaded and 2 outs for David Wright, who missed a grand slam by about 6 inches, just missing the left field fair pole, before grounding out on the next pitch to end the inning. Jeff DaVanon would rob Jose Valentin of a 2 run homer in the 9th that would have brought the lead down to 1.

                              WP- Brandon Webb (8-3)
                              LP- Jeremi Gonzalez (0-1)

Julio Franco's 2 Run Homer Powers Mets to 5-4 Victory

Arizona (AP)- A 2 run homer in the 8th inning by Julio Franco gave the Mets the 5-1 cushion that they would need as poor defensive play nearly cost them the game late tonight. An error in the 8th inning by Beltran on a routine flyball led to a 2 run inning to pull the D'Backs to within 2. Then a throwing error by Jose Reyes on what looked like a routine groundball led to the Diamondbacks pulling to within 1 at 5-4. Keith Foulke would get Luis Gonzalez to ground out to 1st base with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd in the 9th to record his first Mets save, his 14th overall. Pedro Martinez picked up his 7th win going 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, striking out 5. Russ Ortiz fell to 2-5 with the loss.
