        Re: Lan's New York Mets

        Mets Make a Huge 3-Team-Deal

New York (AP)- Big news out of Mets camp today. Alex Rodriguez, the reigning AL MVP has been traded across town to the New York Mets in a 3 team deal. The Angels received CF Carlos Beltran and SP John Maine. The Yankees received 3B Dallas McPherson and LF/DH Cliff Floyd. The Mets receive AL MVP Alex Rodriguez and a solid defensive center fielder in Darin Erstad, and Bernie Williams.

"While it was tough to give up a guy like Beltran who we paid a lot of money for in the first place, it was obvious he wasn't really panning out all that well here and I'm not planning to be all that patient with guys who are making that kind of money and constantly finding themselves struggling or hurt. The Yankees got an excellent 3rd base prospect in Dallas McPherson who should be able to help fill the hole left by A-Rod's exit, and Floyd should give them a solid bat whether they play him in the outfield or DH him. As for us, Alex will move back to short which obviously is his natural position. Reyes will continue to play at 2nd base. Darin Erstad will start in center field and Bernie Williams will get the nod in left, splitting time most likely with Victor Diaz or Jose Valentin."

            Re: Lan's New York Mets

The A-rod trade was unrealistic, Yankees never trade for prospects(Mcpherson) and would never trade A-Rod. The mets wouldnt make that trade either sending beltran and floyd out. Beltrans only been there a year. Last thing just a week before that you acquired Izturis at short. Where does he play now...hopefully not in front of reyes(60 Sb's) is hard to come by.

Izturis will backup both middle infield positions.

I disagree with the point regarding the Mets and the Yankees. Beltran has been highly disappointing and fairly prone to injury the last two seasons, and I believe that if they were to acquire Alex Rodriguez and Darin Erstad in a trade they would indeed move him. Same thing goes for Floyd. He spends more time hurt than healthy.

As for the Yankees, yeah it's a little unrealistic, I agree, but not overly so. McPherson and Floyd can make up for Rodriguez's offense and IMO having them both in the lineup makes them at least equal to the pre-trade, though I can definitely see where you are coming from.

              Thanks for checking in though.

Game 14: Atlanta Braves @ New York Mets (7-6)

Heilman Wins First Start of the Season, 3-2

New York (AP)- Two big pitching mistakes cost the Braves today as they fell to the Mets. On two separate occasions Kyle Davies went wild with a runner on 3rd base which led to runs being scored by Carlos Delgado and Alex Rodriguez on wild pitches. David Wright drove in the other Mets run on a 3-4 performance. Darin Erstad got off to a rough start in his first Mets appearance going 0 for 4 on the night in the 2 hole. Aaron Heilman pitched well throwing 92 pitches over 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 8 hits striking out 4. Sanchez picked up another hold and Wagner picked up his 5th save. The Braves offense was provided on a wild pitch by Heilman and a solo home run by Jeff Francouer.

Yes Lee is a beast. I didn't take him seriously enough coming into the first game, because his batting average was sub .200 I think. Then he went apenuts on my staff.

nice set up. Everything looks good and is well done. Dont like the trade at all from a realism point of view (Yankees would never trade ARod) but hey its your dynasty. Keep it up.

Game 15: Atlanta Braves @ New York Mets (8-6)

Former Met's Homer Breaks the Braves Open, Braves Win 7-4

New York (AP)- Victor Zambrano looked to be cruising through 5 innings giving up only 1 run before former Met Todd Pratt busted things open with 2 outs and 1 on. Pratt jumped on a first pitch changeup and launched it opposite field off the strikeoute board in right to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. The Braves would add 4 more runs en route to the 7-4 victory. Mets Reliever Chad Bradford once again got rocked and word around the clubhouse is that he'll be sent to the inactive roster. Also driving in runs for the Mets was Tim Hudson who had a 2 RBI triple off of Zambrano in the 6th on a ball that was misplayed by Xavier Nady but no error was given. Chipper Jones homered off of Bradford as well. For the Mets, Paul LoDouca and Carlos Delgado both went 3 for 4 on the night and Alex Rodriguez went 2 for 4, but outside out of that only Williams and Franco had hits. Reyes continues to struggle, going 0 for 1 as his seaosn average drops to .231.

Chad Bradford was deactivated after the game and Royce Ring was called up in place of him.

Game 16: New York Mets (8-7) @ San Diego Padres

Pedro Hit Hard, Mets Fall to .500 as Padres Win 5-3

San Diego (AP)- You look at Pedro's pitching line, and you wonder how exactly he was hit so hard, considering he struckout 9 batters over 7 innings. However, Pedro gave up 10 hits, 8 of which were of the extra base variety: 6 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run. Jake Peavy pitched well, as the Mets scattered 10 hits, but they were not overly effective as he held them to 3 runs, 2 of which were scored in the 1st inning on a 2 run homer by Delgado. There was a huge disparity between the top of the Mets lineup and the bottom half. The first 4 batters were 10 for 16, and everyone else a combined 1 for 19. Reyes and Wright had the day off, though Wright pinch hit and grounded out to end the game.
