You were on a bad losing streak there for a while. That had to hurt your standings. Speaking of what place are you in?

Heilman Dominant as Mets Win 3-2

Arizona (AP)- The Mets extend their winning streak to 3 games here tonight on the heels of a brilliant performance by Aaron Heilman. Heilman carried a 1 hitter into the 9th before giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. Keith Foulke would be called on with runners on the corners and 2 outs in the 9th to pitch to Estrada, and he induced a line drive on a 1-2 changeup right at Reyes for the final out of the ballgame. Heilman improved to 6-4 on the season with the win. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 2, and struckout 7. Foulke's save was his 15th. Miguel Batista fell to 0-6 on the season going 5.2 IP giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, walking 1 and striking out 4.

June 13: New York Mets (31-32) @ Philadelphia Philles (31-33)

Phillies Pen Gives up 10 Hits in 2 Innings, Mets Win 6-4

Philadelphia (AP)- The Philles manager made a decision that will come back to haunt him when he took out Gavin Floyd with 1 out in the 8th as Floyd had given up just 2 runs on 8 hits to that point. The Mets would get on Arthur Rhodes, quickly and often touching him up for 4 runs on 6 hits before he finally retired the side in the 8th. Rheal Cormier would give up 4 hits in the 9th but the Mets were not able to add to the 6-4 lead. Julio Franco come through big with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs trailing 4-2 driving in 2 runs on a 2 RBI single to left. Kaz Matsui would triple home Franco to give the Mets the 5-4 lead and would eventually score himself. Chad Bradford picked up the win, pitching to only one batter on the evening. Foulke picked up his 16th save on the evening.

Bannister Falls to 1-11, Phils Win 5-2

Philadelphia (AP)- The Mets fell 1 foot shy of a comeback tonight as they fell back under .500 with the 5-2 loss to the Phils. With nobody out in the 9th and Tom Gordon on the mound with runners on 1st and 2nd David Wright would bomb a hanging curve to the deepest part of the Phillies ballpark and miss a 3 run homer by mere feet as Victorino made the catch in front of the wall on the sac fly moving Beltran to 3rd. Nady would end the game on the next at bat with a 5-4-3 double play.

Patterson Robs Beltran of a Walkoff Home Run, Mets Lose 9-8

New York (AP)- In a game that featured a ton of offense and very little pitching the Mets were unable to come out on top as Corey Patterson robbed Carlos Beltran of a walk-off 2 run home run in the home half of the 9th. Although the catch only marked 2 outs, Lo Duca was well on his way past 2nd base figuring it was gone when Patterson brought it back leading to him being doubled off of 1st to end the ballgame. Rodrgio Lopez picked up the win improving to 4-3 overall and Chris Ray picked up his 9th save of the season. Heath Bell was charged with the loss.

                        Mets Acquire Orlando Hernandez

New York (AP)- The Mets have announced that they have traded RP Jorge Julio to the Arizona Diamondbacks for SP Orlando Hernandez. Julio was the Orioles best reliever thus far teaming up with Duaner Sanchez to setup one of the better 7th-8th inning punches in the league. However, the Mets rotation has been hurting as Brian Bannister is just 1-11 on the season and struggling mightily.

With the trade El Duque will take Bannister's spot in the rotation. Jose Lima and Jeremi Gonzalez have been deactivated. Bannister will be the long-man in the pen and Matt Perisho and Juan Padilla have been called up.

Well, he wasn't 1-11 in New York. He was 1-5 or 1-6 or something. The thing with Bannister was that he looks good for a few innings and then loses it in the middle innings generally. Hopefully he can adjust to a reliever role cause I really think he'd be an effective pitcher throwing an inning or two in his appearances rather than in a starting role.
