First Half
The opening game of the Marist Classic begins with the teams trading baskets then Lewis leads Stephen F Austin on a 10-2 run. After his layup, the Lumberjacks are up by eight, 12-4, with just under 15:00 remaining. After a jumper by Lewis, Brown sinks a jumper and leads Army on an 8-0 run before Lewis stops it with a layup. Pugh tips in a rebound then Brown hits a 3-pter to put the Black Knights within three, 18-15, halfway through the first half. Army takes the lead thanks to a layup by Brown and a jumper banked in by Goodman but Stephen F Austin takes the lead back on a 3-pter by Ragland. After a layup by Cox, Ragland and Carter trade layups as the Black Knights trail by four, 25-21, with under 5:00 left. Fordham leads the Lumberjacks on a 7-0 run then Carter scores seven points, including a buzzer-beating 3-pter, during Army's 9-0 run to cut Stephen F Austin's lead to a basket at the half. Army's Brown leads all scorers with 11 points and Lewis leads the Lumberjacks with 10.

Second Half
Thompson hits a 3-pter to give Army the lead to begin the second half. Brown puts in a layup then Alexander sinks a 3-pter to tie the game, 35-35, with just under 15:00 remaining. The teams trade baskets then Lewis hits a 3-pter to give Stephen F Austin the lead. Alexander and Brown trade 3-pters then Alexander drains another one. After Bates banks in a short jumper, Alexander puts in a layup to give the Lumberjacks a six point lead, 48-42, midway through the second half. Goodman puts in a layup then Alexander hits a 3-pter. Richard sinks a jumper and after Bates drops in a fallaway jumper, Alexander and Brewer trade 3-pters. Guy drains a turnaround jumper to give Stephen F Austin a five point lead, 56-51, with 5:00 left. Ragland sinks 1 of 2 free throws then Zastoupil hits a hook shot and Carter banks in a jumper. Lewis hits a jumper and after Ragland sinks two clutch free throws, Brown drills a 3-pter to cut the Lumberjacks' lead to three. Brown steals a pass and puts in a layup to put Army to within one. Ragland misses the front end of a 1-and-1 the Brown's jumper at the buzzer bounces off the rim and out to end the game.

At today's practice I blew the whistle and gathered the team around and had them sit on the bench. Agrivated over all the close losses, I then grabbed my chair and threw it across the Christl Arena floor. I told the team that seven of our ten losses were by less than ten points and I couldn't take it anymore. I told the team that Grant Carter from now on was going to be the starting shooting guard. I told Tyrell Thompson that he was still going to get a bunch of minutes from being the first or second player off the bench and that I was going to give the senior Carter the starting job because he earned it based on his performance in the last few games.Last edited by doncoryell; 03-23-2007, 03:00 AM.If you can read this, thank a teacher. The teams trade baskets and after a dunk by Detmer, Brown hits a 3-pter. Betley drills a 3-pter then the teams trade baskets. Carlisle puts in a layup and after a turnaround jumper by Brown and a layup by Goodman, the score is tied, 11-11, with 15:00 remaining. Abdullah hits a 3-pter and after the teams trade a couple of baskets, Lafayette is up by three, 18-15, halfway through the first half. The teams trade baskets then Gruner hits a 3-pter. After Abdullah sinks a jumper, Carter and Brown put in layups to cut the Leopards' lead to four, 25-21, with less than 5:00 left. Bates drains a runner then Brown sinks two free throws to tie the game then he hits a jumper to give Army the lead. After Smith hits a turnaround jumper to tie the game, Brown puts in a layup with thirteen seconds to go to give the Black Knights a two point lead going into halftime. Another 3-pter by Carter gives Army the lead and a layup by Brown puts the Black Knights ahead by four, 10-6, with 15:00 remaining. Mastropaolo tips in a rebound and Brown hits a 3-pter then Fitzgerald sinks a jumper. Carter accidentally puts in a 3-pter as his lob pass inside intended for Zastoupil goes into the basket. A jumper by Behan and a 3-pter by Fitzgerald pulls Bucknell to within one, 16-15, halfway through the opening half. The lead changes hands twice as Vegotsky and Brown trade jumpers. Richard puts in a put back layup and gives Army a three point lead, 20-17, with 5:00 left. The teams trade baskets then Bates sinks two free throws. A dunk by Tyree and a layup by Hazel puts the Bison to within one then Carter sinks a turnaround jumper at the buzzer to give the Black Knights a three point lead at the half. Army's Carter leads all scorers with 13 points and Fitzgerald leads Bucknell with 7.

Behan sinks a short runner then Carter hits another 3-pter to give the Black Knights the lead. Linthicum puts in a layup to give the Bison back the lead, 39-38, midway through the second half. Richard hits a 3-pter to give Army the lead then Brown sinks 1 of 2 free throws. After Castleberry ties the game with a 3-pter, Brown hits two 3-pters and leads the Black Knights on an 8-2 run. Brown's two free throws gives Army a six point lead, 50-44, with 5:00 left. The Black Knights continue their roll behind the shooting of Carter then Fizgerald ends the game with a buzzer-beating 3-pter as Army makes it three in a row in the Patriot League.
