Re: NCAA 2004: Prestige to Challenge

Psyblast, that was my reaction when I first saw that.

Easton, I'm not necessarily turned around just yet. My schedule isn't too tough and I'm confident that with that season I'll be able to recruit some people who can make an immediate contribution.

I'm just happy I won a bowl and got a contract extension!

For UH, a winning season and a bowl win is pretty darn good. I haven't kept up with UH much since the SWC disbanded, though, so they might be better than I remembered them. All the other SWC schools called them Cougar High for a reason, ya know. Anyway, I'm really enjoying your journal, win or lose.

            OFFSEASON HIGHLIGHTS

            Recruiting
Recruiting went well this year once more. That bowl victory sure helped out with some of the recruits, too. It allowed them to get a good look at my coaching style. This years class is led by the following:

DE Jerry Tennison (5 Stars) - Looks like he could possibly start...
TE Terrance Carter (5 Stars) - Just like Chance Brown only a little more strength.
WR Darius Byrd (4 Stars) - Should fit right into a starting position.
WR A.J. Tucker (4 Stars) - Also should be a starting WR.
RB Jamie Mitchell (4 Stars) - Redshirted this year but should be good.
QB Cory Cooper (2 Stars) - The best we could find in the way of a replacement. Will see some playing time.

            Recruiting Class Rank: 18th

            Pre-Season NCAA Ranking: 40

            Projected C-USA Finish: 4th

            More to come...

                        Update
After a boring time, the Houston Cougars' game with UNT finally ended 30-23. Houston looked extremely rusty out there. Next week is going to be very tough.

Houston Cougars: 1-0 - They won but only by 7 over UNT
Next Game: vs #20 Auburn (1-0)

"Our game with North Texas was a little scary actually. We should've been able to put them away and keep them contained. Near the end, we almost let that one slip away from us. This Auburn game is going to be very tough to win, but if we do our best, we have a chance at making a huge upset."
